for the 1st time at auction a set of Metiers d'Art Masks. Antiquorum NY Sept 30

Now this is really interesting!! VC launched the Masks series in 2007 in a set of 4 watches. These masks were inspired by the masks in Geneva's Barbier Muller museum and perfect examples of primary arts

The Masks were created in a limited sweries of 25 sets of 4 watches each. In 2008 and 2009 Vacheron Constantin introduced 2 other sets, the set up for auction is the second series from 2008.

Collectors have been waiting to see these watches come on the secondary market and Antiquorum will be auctioning a Masks set for the very 1st time and the results should be quite interesing!!

If I am not mistaken, this is the second set, right?

I think the first edition Chinese Funeral Mask was the most awesome.

Alex, there is a post about this upcoming auction on TZ,

where they show few PP's, this 4-set VC, and Rolex and Lange.

Ther expected price of the VC set is up there with PP minute repeaters. This is not bad at all. What one ultimately pays is another issue, but for VC to have expected price in the same region as PP minute repeater means VC has come a long way in the auction world.

It's safe to say that VC halo pieces are 'good investments' from an auction point of view.

What I found odd on TZ was that the first two PP's were sold in May and June 2014, and are now already up for auction??? Thats a bit too soon.
