American Beauty

I can't add anything to what Alex has already posted on this beauty, except that this one is mine and I love it.

The 1921 is my first VC, and it has been my passport into the world of Vacheron.  Studying this watch and finally acquiring one has given me a much greater appreciation for the brand.

Thanks for looking.

Best,

Although I think I am satisfied for a bit, I keep thinking of a the platinum Patrimony Contemporaine with gray dial and the platinum Chonometre Royale.  Fortunately, these are probably even harder to get than the 1921, so I am "safe" for now. respo
to feed your jones

That's not really helpful.

Throwing temptations before me might be considered unkind. Lately I have just been overwhelmed with the beauties of VC.  Having the 1921 on my wrist has really sealed the deal, as it were. It just feels outstanding and very special.  You guys could have told before me this is how it would feel.  Add to the CR and the Patrimony Contemporaine above perhpas a nice Overseas Chrono for sport, a Mercator, the Dual Time Regulateur (also with gray dial), and the Patrimony Traditionelle Perpetual Chronograph with the most beautiful moon phase ever -- and then, perhaps, I might be almost completely satisfied.   Thanks for your kind words, Alex.  Your post on the delivery of your own 1921 I think really pushed me over the edge. I believe seeing yours was the moment that I said, I must have one already! Thank you. Best, respo
hi respo, this watch is getting on my nerve, there is so much....
12/16/2010 - 02:16

things to like about it, tried one in the boutique after 9 months of wait, love it , available but gave it a miss !!!  just because i promise myself a mercator first. now, i am doubting my decision..... i hope i will join the bespoke american club soon, thanks for sharing this fine watch and wear in good health. hope u get used to the attention drawn to yr wrist in the elevator.

I could understand your decision
12/16/2010 - 16:04
...to pass on a 1921 in order to get a Mercator.  That would be a very special watch to find.  But, the American Beauty is for me irresistable. I passed on the first 1921 I had a chance to buy because the timing was not right.  It really felt like a big missed opportunity.  And I thought I had nearly lost this one, too, again becasue the timing was not perfect; but this time around it worked out to my great relief and joy. Best, respo

Well, I tried my best
12/16/2010 - 16:07
But my photographic skills leave a lot to be desired.  This is a tough watch to capture. Alex already did a wonderful job, in both word and photograph, which is why I said I had nothing to add. Thank you for the nice words. Best, respo
Welcome to the club my friend and may your gorgeous watch only

Swedish beauty !
12/16/2010 - 13:00
This is pure Swedish Mid Summer Beauty, to be honest, nothing beats that , except when you are as mature as I am, The American Beauty! I want one and as soon as possible, I will have one. I actually held the first one in  my hand and tried it on, it's a little to big for my wrists I think, though Alex says it isn't. Alex is always right, so I go for one. Congratualtions to this time's most oustanding watch Doc
I hope to see one on your wrist soon.
12/16/2010 - 15:57
It will fit perfectly, I am sure. Thanks for the kind words. Best, respo
definitely beauties Doc but the Swede I would like to take home is...
12/16/2010 - 17:12
a Koenigsegg
Doc, I would take the 3 Swedish beauties any day...
12/16/2010 - 18:03

The American 1921 is fantastic, but still cannot contend with that kind of beautifulness.  Good luck on getting an American 1921, I certainly would make the purchase if I could. Best, Mike

Doc starts 'the ball rolling' and gives us an eyeful!!

I agree...beautiful sight.
Congratulations on youf first VC!
12/16/2010 - 17:26
And what a stunning one indeed!   That watch is probably one of the most popular VCs nowadays and it is definitely in my wishlist.  Aside from the price and the long waiting list, I have very few complaints on this watch (not having the subdial at 6 o'clock, perhaps). It looks very good on your wrist.  Just the right size.  How are you dealing with the unusual orientation of the dial?  I guess having arabic numerals helps a lot in this case. Enjoy your early Christmas present in the best of health!! Best regards, Kazumi
Thanks, Kazumi
12/16/2010 - 22:21
I appreciate your good wishes.  Yes, the price and wait list are the only drawbacks I can see, too.   The orientation of the dial is pretty easy to gfet used to as it feels perfectly natural at typical angles such as when your wrist is held out (say resting on a table or on the driving wheel of your car).  In any case, the orientation of the main dial and the placement/orientation of the seconds subdial are key design elements that help to make this watch so special. I wouldn't dream of changing them myself. Thanks again for the kind words. Best, respo
Congratulations,
12/17/2010 - 16:21
She fits very well on your wrist. Great taste Respo, Wear it in good health, Cheers, Liger

Congraulations Respo! I might not be the biggest...
12/17/2010 - 22:16
fan of the American 1921 but I definitely share your joy in the very first VC of yours. Judging by the comments and the awesome feedback this watch has been getting since release there will be followers of your path. I believe a few Loungers have already pulled the trigger on this one. Maybe, it's not such a bad idea to make the American 1921 into a collection of its own...
Thanks
12/18/2010 - 00:24
But I kind of hope the 1921 remains its own piece within the Historiques line.   Thanks for your comments and nice words. Best, respo
