Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Well, I finally did it. The "unforgiveable sin" of selling my Chrono Historique. Why on earth would I commit such an appalling action. I guess the good part of it was that I introduced someone in Vancouver to the world af Vacheron Constantin.

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Well, there's actually more to it than that!
Scroll down a little further and you will why...and as they say a picture is worth a thousand words...
but here's a little hint: 47100

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Reference 47100 (with round buttons, the 47102 had rectangular buttons)
Skeletonized chronograph. Calibre 1140SQ hand engraved. Diam. 38mm
Made in the 1990's

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

This photo (above) and the next one show that the text and numbers on the sub-dials are not just stamped on!

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

The engraving generally and the text in particular is much sharper than shown here. Unfortunately using a 105mm VR macro with a 1.7X extender makes the depth of field very very shallow. And  the focus in these photos was the mechanism rather than the engraved text. My times was limited so unfortunately I could not devote as much time to these pics as I wanted.
Nevertheless, I think I've shown the essence of this watch (I hope so anyway!)

Au revoir Chrono Historique, bonjour....

Enjoy!
Joseph

Thanks Alex, The choice was a little birrersweet, but I think I made the right choice. I'm sure another Chrono Historique will come along. Regards, Joseph

what is it called ?  congrats and totally justified trade.

Thank you, The text is standard VC. and says "Vacheron Constantin, Geneve Swiss" on the Maltese Cross and " Adjusted to 5 positions, 21 jewels" on the back edge. Buried in the movement is the Calibre. All are hand engraved as is the movement itself Regards, Joseph
Félicitations Joseph.....

It is a nice and not so often seen watch. The best would have been to keep the chrono historique and buy this one

Very fine piece!  I think one of your photos would make a great screensaver too...do I have permission to copy for personal use  ?  Honestly, the skeleton work by VC is the finest and the trade was a hands-down (or should that be thumbs up?) winner.

Hi Dean, Thanks for your kind words. By all means, use it for personal use. By the way I did make a VC screensaver with a bunch of my VC watches and other related stuff including photos of some of the VC talented people. Send me a private message with your address and I'll send you a copy on CD. Its to large to send easily by email attachment although it can be done. (I need to update it with some of my more recent acquisitions Regards, Joseph
Lovely piece Joseph....

You are worse than I was three years ago, when I was on the summit!  Suddenly, I promise you my friend, your eyes will open and you will realise: seeing your childrens begging on the streets and your wife put on some  suspicious dress every night and say : "I'll just take a walk for some hours". Than, it's time stop shopping This last year you have out performed all of us ( together ), I'm glad to have these 44 diamonds, sepecially now when you have gone wild Congrats to you, I don't know for which time I say it, I can keep count on any longer, and all started very careful with the rather anonumous LH you had as your first VC.  Still have it? Let me see a pic, please. It wasn'yt long ago!!! This from TP !!I discovered this part of the Purists recently and finally decided to contribute.. By JOSEPH BLANKIER March 10 2006 at 3:22 PM Take care and there are always AW ( Anonumous Watchoholics ) to turn to   But, psst,  please tell me first so I can buy some off yours Mats
VC's skeleton work is simply the best.
