Back from the Spa!

Dear Fellow Loungers,

I was delighted to pick up my Ref: 6272 a few days ago after a long journey...

It had been sent to Switzerland for a complete overhaul in Nov 2009.  It came back in Nov 2010 and worked perfectly for 3 weeks....

For some reason it stopped ticking even fully wound.  I sent it back under warranty and after another partial overhaul it seems to be ticking healthfully!

Back from the Spa!

A Maltese Cross sticker!

Back from the Spa!

Shiny new acrylic "bubble" crystal and polished case - just like it was born yesterday!!

Back from the Spa!

Not the original buckle, but very desirable nonetheless!

As you might guess, my 50+ year old baby is finally getting plenty of well-deserved wrist time!

With best regards
looks like a 20 year old and not a 50+ lady :-) love the case can you

To ask if I can send in my 'old lady' to the spa? Predictable. Sooo predictable. G
You can do that but it would cost you half your fortune

Hey, I am only asking if I can send her in 50

and have her back 20... ... every one in a while.... G

Hi Hewitgar and Alex, A spa (or even just a massage) does wonders every now and then! But in the end, think young, stay young! With best regards JAMES

Hi Alex, Yes she is a beauty and Ruby does not mind I have my 6272 as a "mistress"!  Sure, will post some scans later (these are taken with iPhone for the meantime...) With best regards JAMES
Looks perfect!

I love seeing these "old ladies" come back to life.  It is great to hear that VC replaces the crystal with an acrylic one, so I guess it is then pretty close to original.  Like you, I think I would have to opt for a Maltese half-cross buckle, even if it is not original.  It is the best buckle there is and it always makes me smile to see one in any color or metal. I really have to get an "&" in my collection.  Congratulations on getting your VC back on teh wrist. respo

Thanks Respo! Yes, the acrylic crystal is nice!  The "bubble" look really adds to the vintage feel of the watch!  I have to be careful though, as it does scratch easily... The buckle is indeed very distinctive, even from a mile away... With warmest regards JAMES
HI James, you showed this watch to me before going to the Spa

It looks great after being refreshed!  Congrats!  It looks good on you, but possibly better on the wrist of your better half? devil (no, she did not pay me to say that), smiley Best Regards, Dan

Hi Dan, Yes indeed!  After your advice I went ahead and got the full treatment (sans dial restoration). And Ruby loves it too!  SOmething to share and cherish together! With warmest regards JAMES

That is a wonderful watch and in the long run I'm sure it was worth the wait...but really, two years!  Its barely acceptable that a restoration of a non-complicated watch takes one year, but to have the WARRANTY work take an additional year is a standard that VC should be embarassed about blush.  If someone is the victim of an incorrect repair, I would expect that they should receive priority and not just dropped back in the queue again...outrageous! Sorry to rant and once again let me say James that it is a beautiful piece that I'm sure you will enjoy for many years smiley

An Explanation

Hi Dean, Yes, I did wait 2 years, but it was not the fault of the VC service team.  In fact they were very quick with the turn around... The watch was originally deposited with the Taipei Richemont office for the first service (which took 12 months - average I think), and it stopped unexpectedly after I arrived back in New Zealand in December last year.  As the service has a 12 month warranty, I did not send it back to Taipei until September this any delay was entirely my responsiblity! The Taipei office sent the watch straight to Geneva for an inspection, and it received immediate attentionfor a partial overhaul.  It was back in Taipei by mid November...that is pretty fast! Full praise to Richemont and VC! So don't worry Dean!  I only have myself to blame for not getting my piece on my wrist earlier!  But it certainly is a joy to have her back.....absence REALLY does make the heart grow fonder! With best regards JAMES
Understood! nt
