Back from VC's workshops...

After a year being repaired and serviced in Geneva, I have finally got back my VC watch! Yippee!! It was my father's before me and was given to him by his uncle. I think it's from the 1960's and the technician at Wempe told me it was a cal. K1072, I suspect the one with the swan's neck escapement rather than the gyromax, but am not sure about that. A good part of the year long wait was because the dial needed restoring. It's champagne coloured, with a soleil design. It has some imperfections, despite the restoration but is very beautiful nonetheless. They've replaced the crown and given it a new strap. I don't have the original buckle, so couldn't resist a new VC buckle, even thought it doesn't match a 1960's watch. Anyway, I'm very pleased and will wear it with pride. If anyone can provide anymore info (about the reference, date of manufacture etc.) it would be very welcome. I've added some photos below but am a poor photographer so apologies in advance.

Congratulations on restoring your wonderful family heirloom!  The Ref. 6394 is one of my favorites and yours probably dates from the mid-1960's.  Most versions I have seen had a linen-texture engraved into the case band, but yours is only the 2nd I've seen with a satin finish.  The reference was produced with both versions of the 29 jewel 107x movement; gyromax and swan-neck.Antiquorum Photo
