Re: Beauty contest (II) : VC / Lange

This is an easy one for me...neither! The Lange is a marvel of engineering design, a real chef d'oeuvre, but I have to look at the dial and its far too busy trying to be all things to all people. C'est trop! THe VC, well, with all due respect, apart from the case, is interesting. Those dates remind me of the little posters (affiches) that you see taped on poles or walls, advertising something, with the telephone number at the bottom cut into tabs so you can pull one off and call the person. Interesting but not my personal taste. Regards, Joseph

I am not fond of transparency even if the Quai de l'Ile makes me change my minde. The Tourbograph pour le mérite is one of the most impressive classical movement ever made and thinner than Double Split. With "fusée chaine" + toubillon as regulation system, these is the best mix of historical wonders of horology. I am not fond of the too classical design of Lange but for this duel clearly the Lange. But it is not the same category, the Lange requires a big present to your wife to make it acceptable
Lange for me! Though I prefer Datograph. (nt)

VC has all the ingredients to be good looking but lacks a je ne sais quoi to make it appealing. The whole look lacks life IMHO. I like the paddles though that move around to highlight the calendar functions, this is what inspired the date model of the QDI. BTW Lin why do you keep using photos found on other sites where all these VC photos can be found here on the Lounge?
Easy choice for me, Lange. (nt)

modern looking VC for me...

I was actually offered the watch by my internet provider at $80k last week... I really love the design of Malte Openface Retrograde Perpetual in PT but IMHO it is too expensive and it would be nice if the watch was 40+ mm. At 38,5mm it is a bit small for today's standards...

Thanks for sharing. Way out of my budget these days, lol. I too was offered the VC for 80K, just this morning by one overseas internet provider I know. Was surprised they had such availability. Maybe with the banking crisis these days, people are cautious with their buying of such pieces. Enjoy the weekend!! Regards, Matt
Hello Lin, quite long time without meeting each other!

I prefer the Lange even if the dial is too busy for me, like for Joseph. I would rather prefer the Lange "Pour le mérite". But we the talk about a tourbillon, at the opposite, you introduced a perpetual calendar VC! Difficult to really compare Cheers
Dear Patrice, Hope seeing you soon (nt)
