Beauty contest - where your heart goes?

The pictures are not wonderful, but argue your choice:

Beauty contest - where your heart goes?

Or

Vacheron Constantin definately.

The Moonphase is perfect,

the Malte lungs amazing,

the dial seems less busy,

the swordblade hands are much more easy to read (and more beautiful)

and finally it says Vacheron Constantin and has a Maltese cross.

I have to go with the 5970. I think the dial is more legible, the case more classic and Patek makes the best Perpetuals of all the watch companies IMHO.

The VC for 2 main reasons: reverse snobbery and the

moonphase

1) Reverse snobbery because so many would say Patek because its written Patek on the dial and I don't want to go that route  even though the 5970 is a truly gorgeous timepiece.

2) The engraved moonphase on the Malte perpetual calendar chronograph for me single handedly justifies the purchase of that watch!

However I have to admit that I don't like the red lettering on the dial of the Malte.

Here's a short photo comparaison I had done between the Malte perpetual calendar chrono and the Patek 3970 (the model previous to the 5970 shown here)

VC 47112 - there is no contest!!! :-)
11/07/2007 - 13:37

I'm sure JB and Deniz will feel the same (if you want more pics of the VC, go to Deniz' website...)

The engraved moonphase of he 47112 is truly unique - as Alex says, it is worth getting the watch just for this!!!

It doesn't stop at the moonphase for me - the lugs, the dial, the hands, the pushers, ... everything on the VC in my opinion is better than on the PP! There is also a feeling of strenght that comes from the VC that is not there with the PP.

Don't get me wrong, the PP is a beautiful watch, but it pales in comparison to the VC.

My 2 cents...

LOL

I think you already know my answer...

No contest!

By far....

the 5970.

It is a lot more elegant than the VC. The malte collection really doesn't do it for me.

The case is big and unelegant, same for the hands. The only thing i like is the moonphase.

I consider that only PP knows how to design beautiful perpetuel calendar.

What do you want ?

The VC has some much more style - that's the main reason why I purchase fine watches - style. I agree that Patek's engineering is superb but isn't VC's as well? I bet the VC would look better on my wrist - I wish I could enjoy that one day.

The same dilemma for the PP5070 and the VC Chrono...
11/08/2007 - 10:22

The VC is better finished than the PP in my opinion:

- the indexes

- the pushers

-...ans the work of the moonphase!

The VC is really the nices of two...

But if I could choose, I don'k know which watch I would buy... PP is Magic LoooL ...but I largely prefer the VC ^^

NO CONTEST. THE VC

VC for me...

though I suspect that the majority of answers will differ if this question were posted on a Patek forum! Bill
My heart goes to Patek.
11/08/2007 - 16:49

IMHO, Patek has little edge over VC in the following aspects:-

1. dial balance

2. colour combination

3. case execution

4. prettier hands

For this comparison, I will consider the strength of the brand name as insignificance.

I'm afraid i'm totally smitten by the PP

Even without Patek Philippe on the dial it is a blindly beautiful watch
