the 50s by VC.

The dial, case and most important the movement look in great shape and it has a screw back which is a plus.

To answer your question as should you buy it it depends on your tastes, budget and trust you can put on a internet sale. tell us why you wouldn't buy the watch  ?

Thanks a lot your prompt reply! My requirements are simple: 1. Swiss made old-style gold watch 2. Exact time.

I can't determine condition of watch by photos, so that is why I asked help.

"exact time"?

Well, I don't know in how literal a sense you mean this, but you most certainly will not be getting exact timekeeping from this, or any other vintage watch. In fact, if highly accurate timekeeping is one of your requirements, then you are likely to be disappointed by all but very few vintage watches.

As Alex has suggested, it looks like a nice example of a vintage hand-wound V&C, but as it is being sold through an auction, you must decide ahead of time what you would be willing to pay for it. Also, be sure that the seller is reputable, as photographs do not necessarily tell the whole story.

I like the 1/5  sec. marker dials and this one looks original and in very good condition. The case alo looks clean and no tool marks on the screw back. The movement also looks very nice with no scratches or corrosion. If your looking for a very good example of a 50's watch then this is one. I would also ask some of these questions to the seller; is dial orig. are there any blemishes or spotting on the dial, are there any major scratches or dings on the case, how does it run? Please let us know if you get it.

Good luck

John
