Cal 1124 vs 1120

Hi guys I was wondering if someone could advise me if Cal 1124 (JLC 899) is held in the same esteem as 1121 (JLC 920) I understand that 1124 has the central seconds and the 1121 does not but if I am tossing up between two 222's (jumbo and 34mm) should I buy the jumbo because of the movement or is there no huge difference? Thanks Hamish
I would personally choose the 1120, all other things being equal

Cal 1120/1121/1122 are based on one of the very best automatic movements ever made. And the ultrathin nature of it. Not much, if anything, can touch it IMHO. BR, Dan
the question shoud be Ref 222 Jumbo or 34mm ;-) without a doubt the

There will probably be near unanimity that 1120 is the movement to have. It's an icon, invented more than 40 years ago and still fully state-of-the-art. While there is nothing wrong with the 1124 movement, I don't think anyone would put it in the same category. Of course, if you need or want a seconds hand, you will have to go for the 1124. I'm sure there's also quite a price differential.

The 1120 is my pick too. Also used by AP and PP from the JLC 920 (JLC neveractually used it.) Here are 2 excellent articles you may wish to read:http://people.timezone.com/library/horologium/horologium631686780396906210http://www.worldtempus.com/en/news/top-news/detail/article/1264006091-vacheron-constantin-the-ultra-thin-heritage/ Happy Holidays, Joseph
Thank you, Joseph

...for posting links to those two articles, particularly the first one, which I read a long time ago but had forgotten.  One of my primary collecting goals is to get a cal. 1120 in a VC watch.  I am not big on duplicating movements in my very small collection, but I have broken that rule before and this is one caliber I would break many rules for.  Best regards, Robert

Jumbo... Ever time. This movement is, in my very humble opinion, about as great as they get. Gary

Thanks for the information guys and thank you Joseph for posting the links. I decided to buy the jumbo but when I examined the watch the condition was unacceptable so the hunt continues!!!
