It has been a good day. Now I am waiting for another volume I had been hunting to show up.  I am trying to replicate Dean's bookshelf -- he makes my life difficult.  wink Best, Robert

Thank you for reminding me of that post, Berny

Is this a preview of things to come? :-)

Perhaps an original 1972 Prestige de la France?  I think I've seen a couple of you recent posts indicating interest in this watch?  wink BR, Dan

Thanks for paying attention to my silly posts. We need to schedule a GTG this summer while you are still in our neck of the woods. Best, Robert
agree with Dan :-) (nt)

The thrill is in the hunt, my friend.

The launch of the new 1972 had, perhaps, added fuel to the fire.  wink Best regards, Robert
A shaped caliber for shaped cases?

But of course, that is the way it should be!  Enjoy this 1050 dissected Robert cheeky
Dean, you are a wonder!

It is delightful to see this dissection of the 1050.  Where did you find it?  We still do not know who developed the 1050 in the first place, do we?  Is it a JLC ebauche, I wonder? Thanks for posting these images. All best, Robert
Just something from the bookshelf ;-)

IIRC the 1050 was introduced in 1958, which means it was sourced from JLC, albeit with a Patek-licensed Gyromax balance.  Still, I haven't been able to identify the base caliber so it may have been an exclusive ebauche...perhaps Alex can enquire?
Thanks for the additional info

I have another VC reference book on its way to me now (maybe even arriving today!) -- your bookshelf has inspired me, Dean.  The major ones I am missing now are the new  (1) Calibres 2253 & 2260 volume from VC and (2) I have to hunt down the  Augenweide Armbanduhr by Carinthia plus (3) any old catalogues/special publications I can find and do not yet have. Best regards, Robert

They'll probably comp you the 2253/2260 book....
07/18/2013 - 17:58
if you simply purchase one of the watches. What's stopping you? :-) Bill
Always ready with the helpful suggestions, Bill

Robert as a The Hour Club member you have a special discount on these

books, just check the Library section...or contact the NY boutique
Thanks, Alex

I am aware that Calibres 2253 & 2260 is for sale, and I will get one before too long, I am sure of that.  But I don't think that Augenweide Armbanduhr by Carinthia is available for sale on THC (or anywhere else I can find yet).  That one is requiring some hunting.  Best, Robert

Well, this is a good excuse to show my 1050. But it will have wait a few days. Was just visiting the VC Paris! Had a very nice conversation with Monsieur Jean-Yves di Martino (thank you Guillaume) and one of the other staff, Pierre-Jean Chabalier. Everyone was so pleasant and friendly. C'était top! Merci beaucoup á tous! Joseph
