Chinese saying "Friend comes from afar, isn't it pleasant"

Indeed it is smiley

Our friend came to host the local inaugural Hour Club event. It was a night of good food, great company & captivating watches. But that's only for Day 1.

Day 2 was our turn to play host to Alex. Lunch was chinese in a private room conducive for discussing topics on watches. Unfortunately, some of us had to leave for work after lunch. But the rest decided we had not had enough of discusssion. Thus the group went for tea. It was a good 3.5 hours since we met for lunch that I had to intervene to adjourn the Day 2 event, so that Alex could return to his hotel to catch a rest before hosting the second session of the Hour Club event for another group of VC watch owners.

It was an excellent 2-day event for a few reasons. Definitely, one was Alex making his trip over, despite the very hot weather, a stark contrast from where he was. Secondly, at least half the lunch participants were relatively new to watch collecting but that didn't deter them from proactively finding information. Perhaps most importantly, everyone felt at ease to share their views & experiences.

Thanks, Alex, for making these possible.

Melvin

One of my favourite of VC new pieces (somehow the photo orientation is wrong).

Thanks for sharing this, Melvin. I see some nice watches in your photos.  I think I spy a RG 1912 on the tray in the background in the second picture.  This watch has been much on my mind lately.  cheeky And Alex was wearing the blue Overseas Chrono -- perfect for the hot climate, no? The food and the views from the restaurant also look awesome.  It is trerrific to have this report. Best regards, Robert
Yes, Robert. The 1912. I like

Looks like was a terrific time! It's been over 40 years since I was in Singapore. There used to be a Bugis St. then, which I actually visited. I guess now it's just a "myth" Probably the only thing I would recognize now is Raffles Hotel. (LOL) But I would certainly enjoy a return visit, especially with some of the local Loungers! All the best, Joseph

Thanks Melvin for sharing these fantastic memories of the inaugural VC Hour Club dinner as well as the wonder time we had with Alex. I really enjoyed the times we shared (plus the good food, wine and watches!). Thank you Alex and all VC Singapore folks for hosting us at the dinner, Melvin for organizing our lunch/tea on Day 2 as well as my fellow "watch avengers" in Singapore for joining us (we have a Captain America, i.e. Melvin and an Ironman with us... Alex knows who are they). Lastly, here are more pictures I took (with my camera phone). Enjoy! Cheers to VC!! robin wong
