Patrizzi & Co
Osvaldo Patrizzi's first auction was awaited with anticipation especially for Vacheron Constantin fans considering the amazing number of chronographs he had for sale. Surprisingly many pieces from the auction star brands (Patek and Rolex) did not sell where almost all the VC sold. Secondly the ref 4072 (straight lugs) and 4178(tear drop lugs) all sold for approx CHF 30,000 - 35,000 ($25,000-30,000 / €20,000-23,000) which is definatel a good deal but then again when you have 10 models of each ref for sale you can't really play on the rarity factor can you?

Nevertheless here are some of the highlights of the sale with pieces reaching rather high prices:

Lot 20 Ref 2990: Monopusher cushion shaped chronograph. Produced in 10 examples in 1930. Estimate CHF: 115,000 - 175,000 / USD: 100,000 - 150,000 / EUR: 80,000 - 120,000 sold for CHF 115,000 ($100,000 / €80,000)

being crafted about the year of my birth. I would be very happy with any and all of these beauties but I just cannot get #37 out of my head. Preaching to the choir I suppose. Thanks for the look. Best to all, Tim
Patrizzi's estimation is not so accurate

Most of the watches short-listed here were sold below Patrizzi's lower estimates.  May be he was too confident either of himself or the current economy. Regards Ling
