Chronographs 49150 vs 47120

This is a dumb question but I just dont get it ....
Why does an automatic chrono watch (49150) with three registers cost less than a manual wind chrono watch (47120) with two registers ?
Thank you.
Overseas vs Malte Chrono...

first of all the Lamania based manual wind caliber in the Malte is not only more complicated to manufacture it also requires more hand finishing than the Piguet based automatic which can explain the price difference. Furthermore if you compare the rose gold OS to the rose gold Malte the price difference is not that great.

comparing the price of a steel Overseas to a gold Malte chrono (as there is no steel version) because the price of the rose gold Overseas and rose gold Malte chrono are not very different  As for Piguet I am refering to the supplier of the base movement ( F. Piguet) who supplies the movement to VC in a kit and VC finishes and assembles is.

I bit the bullet and bought the Overseas chrono in stainless steel i.e. 49150/B01A-9097. Very nice watch and surprisingly not that big probably because it is engineered proportionately with the braclet unlike the Rolex Daytonas that I own which are 2mm smaller and yet look too big on my wrist. A happy surprise for me as the VC Overseas looks and feels good on my wrist. Thanks for the feedback. I hope that this get sme into the club Regards, John
