Collectors' Island, No. 4

Offered as a distraction from this weekend's tragic events, I'd like to convey my great thanks to Vacheron Constantin for continuing the art of book-making by releasing the 4th Collectors' Island.  These limited edition books are courtesty of The Hour Club and each one is a unique treasure dedicated to the passion of collecting.  From these I take away the realization that, regardless of the objects, all collectors are drawn together by the same desire for truth and beauty heart.

Another treasure found in the back of the book is a commemorative 260th anniversary medallion.  Hefty and measuring 5 cm across, it feels like bronze.  Along the edge is engraved that famous quote; Faire mieux si possible ce qui est toujours possible.  One one side are the dates 1755 - 2015 along with the anniversary fleurisanne design.  On the obverse (that is, according to my tastes) is a historic view of the Maison and Tour de l'Ile with the statue of Philibert Berthelier just peeking out.

I know a couple of Loungers were wondering if there would be an edition this year, because previously it came out earlier in the year.  BR, Dan

These books are awesome. I feel fortunate to have series 1 to 3, which

occupy a special place in my bespoke watch library. Not to mention all the Calibre books authored by Alex.

Yes, passion is the common denominator.

And for some reason I do not see most of your attachments.

Thanks for posting some pictures of these great pages!

I just returned from a bevy of trips and pushed the mail aside to open this treasure, #4!  It is truly amazing what people collect, the beauty in the collections and

the depth of knowledge these unique individuals possess. The photography is simply top shelf and the addition of the commemorative coin this year is over the top!

Thank you to Charly for the letter, the sentiment and the gift. Thank you to the staff for the their creation and of course thanks to Alex for including me as one of the lucky recipients. It is truly an honour to receive such a book to share with family and friends and fellow collectors.

With best regards,

It's your karma, Tim
