Hello Loungers, I'm a newbie. Just got my first VC! A Toledo 1952 in w.g. I researched like crazy before getting it, and I'm still reaearching, but I can't discover how many components it's got. I am made to understand that the more complicated a piece is, the more components it would have. Would appreciate it if any of you afficionados can solve my quandary or, at least, point me in the right direction for my research. I'm the type of guy who actually reads all the literature of a new toaster, so you can imagine how valuable the info is to me. Thanks much!
LOL, I'll do my best to find the answer for you. To start if it can be of help the movement has 36 jewels.
Welcome to the Lounge
thanks, alex! sorry to mislead you: i didn't mean to allude to the Toldeo as a "toaster". all i meant was that i'm so info-fixated that i read the literature on everything i acquire, even that of a lowly toaster. so i litedrally couldn't stand it ... not knowing sometihing about my new treasure. i AM ecstatic about the piece, and just as happy to be in the Lounge! will keep on reading and learning:-)
instruction booklet of your toaster really funny
i know, right?! ha ha ha. obssessive-compulsive behavior. even flashlights, PDAs, and, natch, the manual and warranty literature on the VC itself. LOL!
The Toledo is definitely a crowd favorite on the Lounge, with many of the Loungers owning the model...
Please post pictures of your new watch when you have some time!
thanks, veillotron! i actually intuited that several Loungers would own one. i sort of felt that the Toledo would be "iconic" in due time. plus, i simply love the total "look" and "feel" of it, that's all. will post photos as soon as i learn to upload them.
Its a greast choice. I've had mine for a few years am very fond of it. Its one of my favourites.
Wear it in good health.
thanks, joseph! i wear starched shirt-sleeves to work everyday. my only regret is that, since the piece is kinda thick, the case now has a few hairlines. no matter... that's a necessary cost of enjoying it fully by wearing it!
339 parts, not bad! impressive, even to a novice like me. thanks alex!
This was one of the watches on my final short-list before selecting the 31-Day Retrograde watch.
Enjoy it to the utmost.
thanks, dan! i was actually considering the retrograde too. the decision was influenced simply by my facination with a moon phase (read: i've never owned one). in short, my next VC will probably be a retorgrade! cheers!
This is the path I shall follow as well....looking for a 1952, and would love a 31 day Retrograde (along with a Jubilee 1755)
