A couple of nice results from Christie's NY 12/17 auction

I didn't follow all of it, but kept an eye on 2 pieces that were of interest to me.

This 1945 Deck Watch, in its original case.  Estimate US$2,000-US$3,000.  Sold for $4,750 (including Buyer's premium)

And this one, a Minute Repeater, Chronograph, Chronometre made in 1926, orignally sold in 1948.
Expected price was (I thought) an amazingly low US$7,000-$US8,000.  It went for US$28K without Buyer's premium (US$35K with BP).

I was hoping this watch was going to go unnoticed, and bid more than double the estimate.  Unfortunately wasn't able to sneak in and pick it up.
The repeater chrono did quite well!

Neither of the pieces above, but one that I have been after for quite a while and a little smething for the other collector in the house.
Congratulations in advance! :-)

I thought you might have had a hand or two in that auction :-) Congrats, Michael! Can't wait to see them. Joseph
Oh, OK, but just a quick peek as I don't have any good photos yet.

As a lover of nature as well as watches, I have wanted one of these VC Audubon watches since first laying eyes on them.  They rarely come up for auction, and the prices have risen very quickly in the past few years, partly because there were only 10 each of 10 designs, and partly because the dials were done by Muriel Sechaud, a very famous artist.  I was afraid that if I waitred much longer they would be out of reach forever.  I hope I can capture the beauty of the dial and movement with my camera, but that won't be until after the new year. The second was a watch for Alessandra that she saw and fell in love with.  Happy is the watch collector who can share all his passions at home.
I knew it!

I had guessed that you might bid on the Audubon, Mike, and I am delighted that you won it.  I know you were hunting one of these.  Can't wait to see your photos.   Alessandra got a beautiful piece, too.  Congratulations to both of you! Best regards, Robert
