Dress VC with Black Dial?

Aside from the Overseas, I am having some trouble thinking of a white metal VC with black dial.  Is this missing from the currect collection, do you think?  I can't seem to find any recent past models either, although I am sure they exist, in white metal with black dials.  I am really thinking more of a dress watch, preferably a simple time-only piece.  The closest I can think of is the gray dial platinum models, but that is not quite black is it.

Am I forgetting something?

Well, well, well, I bought one of those this spring and picked it up in London while I was there. (hee hee) I just haven't had a chance to photograph it and post it. Oh, there were a few other items too...  devilcool Best, Joseph

Why am I not surprised? That is awesome. But now that you have revealed the news, you must post some photos very, very soon. Please. Congratulations, and I can't wait to see what other surprises you have in store. Best, Robert

That's what I'm talking about!

That's a beauty I did not know about, buddy. I do wish there were a regular production model like this with the black dial, but this would do nicely. Um, where did you say you saw one for sale... ;-) Best, Robert

I was just looking around the web and I came across this watch, I don't even remeber the website. And at first I didn't realize it was a limited edition watch. I really liked the combination. I checked into it a little further and the company selling it had offices in Paris and London. So I agreed to buy it in the spring knowing I would be in London for a conference mid-June. The fellow met me at the hotel and we had a nice conversation about the European economy and he gave me the watch. I had emailed Alex previously about it and he was the one who told me about the limited edition for Austria and Germany. When I had dinner with Gary in London, he told me he had had his eye on it but I beat him to it by a week. I'll take some pics next week after I get back from LA. But it may take a little longer for me to post the photos . I do want to do it justice. Its a gorgeous watch! Beautiful in the WG with black dial.
here's one made for a Japanese retailer a few years ago but only

10 pieces
Is there more information on this one, Alex?

So far, two very limited editions have emerged.  That, for me, raises the question:  why so few Vcherons in this combination of white metal and black dial?  Robert
Made in 2007 for Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi which is a

well known department store in Tokyo. I think generally black dials are not really in demand which explains the lack of black dials in watches today

HI Bob: Here is mine 47245 platinum

That's a beauty, Joe.  Right up my alley.  Perhaps with your suit jacket and the black dial, this has a very formal look to it.  And another piece not in current production.  Was this a limited edition piece as well? Best, Robert

Thanks Bob.  The watch is not marked as such, but the numbers have to be small, as I have only seen the one I bought listed in the past several years.  There have been several in other metals, especially rose gold with the white dial, but the platinum/black combo looks to be more rare.  I really wanted a black dial/guilloche in VC.  Glad I found this one! Best, Joe
Love your watch Joe! ;-)

I have the RG version with white dial and have seen it a bit more than your version. I believe there were YG, RG & WG versions, but don't remember PT variations - so I'm sure you are right that qtys. of your's are smaller. These are known as ref. 47245, introduced in 2000 for VC's 245th Anniversary and I believe the first VC retrograde pointer in a LONG time.  But they were not limited editions. There was another version with an open faced dial, introduced 2 years later, ref. 47247 that was a limited edition of 247 pieces.  A cool bit of trivia...this little ref. 47247 was one of the inspirations/starting points for the QDI.  (Christian Selmoni mentioned this at a dinner once, when introducing the background of the QDI). You can check out this old thread to see a few great pictures of the ref. 47247 by KC Tay.Reference 47247 or 47245? Best Regards, Dan

For that info. I knew a bit about it. I used to own a RG version too. I've always liked the cocept of a retrograde pointer. I had always wanted the PT version but at the time it was out of my price range. It's a terrific -looking watch! Joseph

Lovely watch! great design concept (very masculine but not sporty) and the combination of metal and dial is very elegant. Wear it in good health! Joseph

Vintage Chronomètre Royal with black dial ref. 6161. Thanks to Nicolas for taking such a good picture (as usual).
Yes, the black dialogues nicely with the yellow gold, too

And I love those lugs, which are much like thrones on the1955. Thanks for posting this beauty, Berny. Best, Robert

Really wish we had an edit function here to correct our posts.
I was wondering when you would post this beauty, Berny

I remember seeing it in the metal in Jan. Still love it. Good picture, but still compare to seeing it live! Best Regards, Dan
