Early 1990's VC brochure/catalogue search?

Does anyone have have a VC brochure from the early 1990's?

I have recently purchased a 1993 ref: 47014 from the 'Essentielles' collection and would be very interested in reading the specs and seeing the image/s.

Early 1990's VC brochure/catalogue search?

The closest catalog I have is from 1999-2000

Thank you but I cannot seem to find these catalogues via a search of 'recommended'.

Do these catalogues show their content or the catalogue cover only?

Thank you

Unfortunately not since I'm using.....

my mobile phone. Try to search on my posts "KBS" I have given them titles so that they should be easy to find. The catalogs are shown in their entirety. Good luck. Kent
Hi Steve, on the main page of the "Discussions" page of THL
10/18/2014 - 02:12

You will find a tab that says "Recommended" (which is right next to the "Latest Discussions" tab).  This is a sub-section with posts that are considered recommended reading.

In this sub-section, there are the two posts provided by KBS, aptly named:

Vacheron Constantin Catalog 1990-1991  and

Vacheron Constantin Catalog 1991-1992

Unfortunately, I see some similar references, but not your Ref. 47104.

If it exists in my catalog from 1999-2000, I will let you know.  But that will not be possible until the end of this year/beginning of next year.

Best Regards, Dan

Here we go, Steve.

I'm back at my own computer so now  I’m able to help you with the hyperlinks you asked for.

I have examined a catalog from 1988 that I own. Your watch under the ref name 46014 is not represented. I'm fully aware of that your ref number is 47014 but I believe that you will agree with me after seeing the catalogs from 1989 to 1990 that the ref. number 46014 is identical with your watch.

Here is the first link. See page 34-35.

Second link, See page 38-39. Ref 46014. Notice that there is a pricelist.

Third link. See page 62-63. Now the watch is called 47014 and is represented in the Les Essentielles line.

I have a catalog from 1994 and in that catalog the ref 47014 / 46014 is gone.

I believe that your watch under the two serial numbers 46014 and 47014 was produced from 1989 to at least 1992. Maybe also in 1993 but there I can't help you.

All the best, Kent

Thank you Kent :)

Hi Kent,

Thank you very much.

I have checked the links and you are right, the same watch does appear to have 2 x diffeent reference numbers!

I wonder what 12100 DM would be today in sterling?

This is a complicated question, but let me offer one analysis
10/22/2014 - 15:31

So, if you use a historical converter of DM to USD, you would get that in 1992, 12,100 DM was roughly $7,961.  If you use a "commodity value" comparison, that would be ABOUT $16,600 in 2014.  Using today's rate, that is 10,343 GBP.

So, not a perfect science, and it tries to estimate across multiple currencies over a period of time - never easy - but may serve as some type of guide.

If you remove the dollar conversions, and go straight from DM to GBP using 1992 exchange rate (4,247 GBP), then adjust to 2014 currency, you get 9,774 GBP - so reasonably close and elimates one variable.

This bought a very big smile to my face, I have no idea how you actually worked it out but you have my maximum respect yessmiley

Hi Steve,

I have a catalogue from the 1990's which shows the watch and its variations (different dials, ie roman numerals) etc. There's not much info though. My catalogue is in French and Italian, but all it really says is that the "Essentials" were theintroductory level to the brand.

Your photo is much nicer than the ones in the catalogue.
