Eric Ripert a true Vacheronista!

I am generally skeptical of celebrity endorsements but tonight my opinion was changed. We were lucky enough in Philadelphia to have Chef Ripert come to a local restaraunt to prepare a special tasting menu base on Le Bernardin. Eric Ripert has been an ambassador for Vacheron but I also remained skeptical as to whther these celbrities were really  watch lovers.  Well he is! Chef Ripert occasionally emerged from the kitchen and graciously circulated among the tables and while chatting with him about the menu I mentioned that I was a fan of Vacheron Constantin.  In his chef's scrubs, he extended his wrist and he was wearing a New York Boutique 1921. He smiled when I recognized the watch and said "Number 7."  His love of watches was apparent.  He is the real deal and it was wonderful to see his genuine enthusiasm.  As spectacular as his watches were, his food was even more spectacular.  I had a remarkable evening made even more special by a true Vacheronista.  Thanks to Chef Ripert.

Dan

Seeing people like this trying hard to externalise their passion. For me, in never quite works to define why you have a passion for watches... You 'just do' and however strongly you try to externalise it, you fail to do it justice... Well that's my thought. Food and watches. Ok, no problem with that at all. Planes and watches, yup ok too. Soufle and watches, trees and watches, furniture and watches, books, poetry, cups, cup holders in cars and watches.... I don't mind your associations.... That fact that he has 4 VC says it all! G
A man of good taste, obviously :-) (nt)

I spotted it from a distance as a 1921 and when he got close it was clearly the New York Boutique version.  We talked about it and he was very proud of it and especially that he owned "lucky 7" of the series of 64. On other occasions I have seen him wear a platinum patrimony.  He owns several Vacherons and genuinely seems to enjoy them.  It was a real pleasure to speak with him and more of a pleasure to eat his delicious food. I had the good fortune to be there for the event that was video taped and shown above.  Eric was wearing a Yellow Gold Royal Eagle that day.  If you get to NYC, a trip to Le Bernadin is well worth it, and if you let them know that you are a VC fan, your dessert may come out with a spcial Maltese Cross on it . . .
