Extract from the Archives: tested and approved!

When Alex informed us that the "Extract from the Archives" service would be proposed by Vacheron Constantin, I was looking forward to testing it.

As the service is not available by internet or email, I had a good reason to visit the new Paris superb boutique.

At the end of January, only few days after the opening of the boutique, I entered the 2 rue de la Paix.

Although the request forms were not yet available, I was offered to give the serial numbers and was notified by email a couple of days later that the request had been send to the Heritage department.

A little bit less than 1 month later, I was contacted again and was informed that Extracts had been delivered by the Heritage department and would be sent back to Paris. After a short waiting period...

... Here they are!

The eldest, referenced as 4907 (aka 4838) was produced in 1953 as I expected.

The youngest was produced 5 years later.

I would like to thank the staff of the Paris boutique, that welcomed me warmly and took in charge my request out of the standard process. It was also a real pleasure to discuss with them about both the new collection and the vintage models. One member of the staff, who is a quite young man, impressed me by his passion for the brand and his knowledge of the vintage models.

Finally, the constraint of going via the boutique was a very good opportunity to enjoy the new boutique and meet the team.

Best

For ther 6111, it was love from the first sight. The black dial with the star dust patina and its Maltese cross at 6 is indeed a pleasure for the eyes.

I think I will soon make some similar move angel The most interesting point imho, is the welcome and the passion that you can get, it is not so common to see someone that do love what he is talking about. That is always something that I value a lot. You have two beauties Christophe  :) , quite eager to meet you again in the future. smiley cheers Francois

About the 1008
03/22/2013 - 01:25
I started long time ago my journey to the 1008 with the Lecoultre 449 caliber. My very first vintage watch. I then went trough the whole range, moving from one generation to another, moving from JLC to Vacheron Constantin. The 1008 was the culmination. Size, design of the bridges, elegant finish. I share your love for this moverment. Kind regards,

I've read your few words and stopped to draw breath. The young guy in the Paris boutique is such an important cog in the wheel to promote both the brand and the confidence that lies behind it. These qualities, however simple, are becoming difficult to experience. All praise to those concerned within the VC organisation. Warmest best wishes Tony
