A Few New Additions acquired over the Last Few months

Here are a few "new" pieces, 2 vintage watches and one newer one; but not all Vacheron...

First is a lovely IWC Cal.89. There are several different case styles for this fine movement but this one with these beautiful lugs is by far the nicest. This one is in my favourite metal too: rose gold. The dial has been cleaned but not redone.

The next one is my favourite non-VC watch. I have one before in both RG and PT and sold them both. But the sire's call was just too strong to resist A Few New Additions acquired over the Last Few months

The stars were difficult to photograph but I did finally succeed in bringing out their brilliance.

Et sans oublier (last but not least)...
The Vacheron Ref. 47051 two toned calendar watch in French with  a Cal. 1126 movement ( a JLC ebauche, I believe).
36mm diam. without crown.

I like the IWC the best, the dial is what attracts me to it.  I like Lange's Datograph, but the rest of their collection doesn't do it for me aesthetically - though the finishing work is unbelievable. Thanks for sharing and enjoy them to the utmost! BR, Dan
Thanks Dan

The IWC was one that I found unexpectedly and immediately fell in love with. The dial is beautiful and a joy to wear. I have a few other simple time-only pieces which I really love, my Vacheron Atelier piece and my deep blue Chopard XP (extra plat). Sometimes less really is more! Regards, Joseph (Hope to see you soon)
Ah Joseph...

if you need assistance "exercising" any of your pieces, I will gladly volunteer to wear them for you .  But really, the IWC is also a personal favorite with those outstanding Malta lugs that were shared with V&C Ref. 4716.  Of course you know the other gem hiding within the case...that wonderful cal. 89 movement!  What a comparison it would make if you can find the time to show photos of the IWC movement alongside it's V&C competitor; the cal. 454/5B (hint). Your 47051 calendar watch has a very appealing dial, with the non-traditional placement of the name below the center.  It's caliber 1126 is indeed a JLC ebauche; the 888 which Walt Odets described as the workhorse of luxury watch movements.  I also like the very thin style of Malta lugs, showing the versatility of this design theme. Congratulations on your new family and thanks for sharing .

Many thanks for your kind words. Any time your in Toronto, let me know. You can come by and try on all my watches I've always had a fondness for Malte lugs. I know many disagree but I find them really elegant. I will try to take some photos of the movements as you suggest but it will have to wait a bit. I'm off to sunny California tomorrow to help daughter #2 set up for her 2nd year of college.
Congratulations on these beautiful additions...

Thanks, Mike. That Lange 1 is one of my all time favourites. Its an unusual but lovely design and the workmanship as Dan mentioned is really unsurpassed. Regards, Joseph
Hello Joseph,

fantastic watches! Congrats to them all. You got taste, and it's for sure not only VC's that glitters May we never be so stubborn that we don't appreciate other nice watches! Like this my daughters old little YG Girard-Perregaux, and SHE loves it! It's so small that it has a very hick domed crystal, otherwise it would be impossible to read the dial Yesterday my daughter left for her first real job, after her Master in International Business Law, at Deloitte's in Luxembourg! I miss her already.. Ref. 47051 I have never seen before and so nice pictured.  Very, very special watch! Really more elegant without moonphase! You done it again, Joseph! Excellent! Enjoy life Mats

Mats, my friend. thank you for your very nice words. I can understand your feelings completely. I'm going with my daughter to Dublin in 2 weeks to help her get established as she starts a year at Trinity College for a Masters Degree. So I gave her one of my vintage hamiltons' from 1935, The Linwood I just have to teach her to find it properly and set the time Best Wishes, Joseph

The IWC is absolutely adorable. I especially like the mood of your photographs, it gives the timepieces a very vintage old world charm... Matthew

Matthew, Thank you for the compliments. It took a while to set up and I only wish I had more time to experiment with the technique. I'm glad you enjoyed them. Regards, Joseph

I love all of them but especially the IWC....what's the size of that one? Best regards, Tom

Thanks, Tom! That IWC seems to have been a real crowd pleaser. I believe its 35-36mm without the crown. I'll try to remember to wear it next time I'm in the Big Apple. Kind regards, Joseph

C'est bidonnant, mon ami. I wish I had that kind of money! But it would have been much sadder for me. Look at all the friends I have made...here, at SIHH, at the Purists, in fact around the world. Ca me fait vraiment grand plaisir! Joseph
