Finally joined the club

Hello together,

After reading for a lot of time I finally pulled the trigger on a nice little cal 1003 in gold and I have to say such a little watch is very impressive especially how thin the watch is. I have compared it to an Omega geneve steel dress watch and an AP cal. 2120 time only and it is pretty amazing. And of course the movement and the finish are really nice to look at. Thank you everybody for the very good input given every time I asked some question about some vintage VC watch and many thanks to Alex for confirming the numbers of this little gem that seems to be of the same age as myself yes.

Regards Stefan

Herzliche Glückwunsch!

And welcome to the club.  A beautiful watch.  As we say, may it only tick happy moments!

Very Nice Stefan, love the coin edge bezel!

Thanks Todd, Dan and Alex. I now have a new problem at hand : since neither the strap nor the buckle was original I am searching for a replacement and was wondering if at that time straps were as today 18/16 or were slimmer 18/14. While the strap itself is a replacement item I wanted to look out for a buckle but I'm not sure if it should be a 14 or 16mm one, solid gold or plated. Still a lot of questions wink

Regrads, Stefan

Congratulations Stephan,

It's a beautiful elegant watch!

As for the strap...the watches from the 50's and 60's were usually 18/14 or 17/14mm. The 18/16 are from the 70's forward.

But it's not a hard and fast rule depending on the lugs and the watch design.

Beautiful Face

That "linen" backed face is my favorite look--classic dress watch.

You cannot be too thin or too rich--this watch has both.

Schön!

Hello Stefan.

I love both cal.1003 and this type of watch bezel.

Quite lovely, and spectacular shots. Let me know if you find another- that's right up my alley.
