Finally.....it is back..!

Dear Loungers,

About a year ago I was lucky enough to find one of my dream references from VC: ref 6782. Unfortunately, it was in a bit sad condition: the dial was spotted, the hands were not correct, as was true for the crown, and the movement had not seen a service in years....... So I shipped it to VC in Germany but after a thorough inspection they forwarded it to Swiss. The letter I received after inspection in swiss, mentioned a complete overhaul of the movement, a nos and correct dial, nos and correct hands and a nos correct crown and plexi. It would take about 12 to 24 months.......... Then the waiting started......untill today when a parcel arrived !!! Inside there it was: bright as new and breathtaking....... Obviously it is on my wrist now, but I took it of to make some quick-pics.. I will post more later.

Needless to say I am very, very happy !

Kind regards,
Mark

Congratulations!! What a beautiful watch. It looks like they did a terrific job on the restoration (likely just as nice inside too). Wear it in the best of health. Joseph

Thank you, Joseph. Yes, they did a fantastic job. Apart from the red paint that ought to be in the markers on the bezel, the watch now looks like it did when it was new..... Unfortunately, no pics of the insed but the 1072/1 is, as you know, a breathtaking machine. Kind regards, Mark
You lucky man!

So now we see the Thunderbird as it was meant to be!  I notice the NOS dial lacks the "&".  Might tease people into thinking this is a new addition to Les Historiques collection .  Also interesting that the factory decided not to paint in the bezel markers, which were red when new. So how long did it actually take? Cheers, Dean

Hi Dean, Yes, I noticed the "&" too.....but the dial that was on the watch when I bought it also missed the "&"..... Anyway, it is an amazing piece. Oh, and it took almost exactly one year ! Kind regards, Mark

Hi Dean, Unfortunately, VC did not provide the numbers needed......I will have to ask my VC watchmaker over here to open it up when I see him again. Kind regards, Mark

Thank you, Matt. Actually, it is a LNIB condition, apart from the red paint that once filled the markers on the bezel...... The watch is a joy. Kind regards, Mark
