A Forum Watch?

After reviewing the wonderful offerings from SIHH, I thought about how far the forum has come.  It is  the premier site on the web for Vacheron watches and a great resource.  Do others agree that the forum has reached a point where a "forum watch" would be desirable?  I was lucky enough to purchase an IWC watch specially designed for its internet forum and it is one of the most special pieces I own.  The patrimony traditionnelle has all the hallmarks of a forum watch; it has a fantastic movement, a classic design and a price point that would make it possible for the forumners.  So how about it Vacheron?  How about a forum watch in the handwound patrimony traditionnelle in white gold but with a black or ardoise dial to set it apart from the standard watch? Perhaps an engraving on the rotor xx/25 or xx/50 depending on the number the company felt was appropriate to issue.  Does anyone else think that a forum watch would be great and if so, any other design suggestions?
Best regards,
Dan
I'm all for it and there was even a contest on

A Forum Watch - simple personalized QdI for me...

But I would settle for anything the majority of the Loungers would agree on Hey, I have struggled to get the HL watch project up and running but the extra push Alex mentioned in his reply should be an extra shove to get the VC management excited about it...

Great idea Radek!
A specialized, HL, QDI makes a lot of sense :-)

It's probably the easiest watch in the VC line to create a unique, limited edition, version of.  As well as promoting/marketing VC's newest product line. VC, what do you say?
The only problem is...
01/26/2010 - 17:58
I wouldn't buy one .  Well, I may be alone in wanting a unique piece for THL rather than a special version of one already available.  Also something from Les Historiques would have more connection to VC's heritage, but that's just showing my vintage bias .
Hi Dean, I guess I misunderstood...

I thought you would go for a simple, personalized version of the QDI, if we could get a version with a unique combination of case materials and personalized inscriptions and/or dial - you would not be interested? I think I misunderstood you.   BR, Dan

No worries Dan .  Part of my reluctance to support the QdI as our THL timepiece is that, with its variety of available combinations, one other "special" version won't really make that much of an impact as far as collectors value goes.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue...
01/27/2010 - 00:17
... this tradition in the UK (perhaps elsewhere as well I guess?) is what the bride wears on her wedding day. Perhaps we could apply the lyrics to such a 'THL' watch? The 'union' of the Loungers and VC... ahhh, what a romantic! Old:- Maybe bring back the '&' New:-  An affordable VC - so perhaps in steel? Borrowed:- The idea itself (other brands have done it already) Blue:- Dial / numerals / markers / hands / strap I like the idea of a THL watch.... who wouldn't! Alex, where / who do we push...?!

I like your idea quite a bit, actually. It doesn't sound like much, but one of the points I really enjoyed was bringing back the '&'. On a side note, does anyone know how much modification is acceptable? For instance, is it conceivable to propose taking a known model and ask for extras such as power reserve and moonphase? Or does the model have to stay exactly the same with only "The Hour Lounge" engravings? Or can we ask for a different dial colour? Tien
the cheapest would be taking an existing model and changing
01/27/2010 - 10:13
aesthetics such as dial and case material. This will happen, believe me I'm pushing hard but we need to be patient
Looks like a white dial, steel Chronometre Royal, blue accents...

... perfect.!

oh yes Alex please try to push and we have patient and are waiting this nice idea to be a fact
Oooh yes....
01/27/2010 - 05:45
The Historiques 1955 case in steel, with the caliber 1120 movement!  Damn that would be nice .
you're unto something good Gary! (nt)

.
it is a great idea...

I am looking forward to the day it will happen, but I think we're going to have to be very patient... I'm realistically hoping this project gets done for 2012. In a way, for me, the later the better, as it will give me time to put some funds aside... Cheers,  Francois

Dear Dan, Alex and Fellow Loungers, What a wonderful idea!  I support this suggestion - a special HL QDI would be my choice! Best regards JAMES
