All the best to my felow loungers,

Mercator for me
Another auction piece...

Well, I don't have anything special on my wrist but following Berny's example, here is a very nice piece from Dr. Crott's upcoming auction.  Looks super clean, especially the hard-to-keep bezel texture, and features a Gyromax 1072/1 movement. Unfortunately, the ever-creeping auction commissions have now reached a ridiculous 22%, plus tax.  Considering that most of the marketing is done via Internet, I don't understand how these upcharges are justified.
even though the buyer/seller fees are really high I think that the

reason is that making a nice catalogue costs a lot of money as does having a staff of experts and watchmakers. gorgeous watch though
Did an expert authenticate this?

Crott's auction also features a franken watch we've previously discussed on the forum click here to see the post. Someone is going to be very disappointed  but perhaps a note to the auction house might prevent this tragedy!
The more fraud there is out there, the more you must pay for certainty

The auction houses are (supposedly) selling certainty. I have seen to many erroneous listings to feel that they really are selling certainty. (Notwithstanding the plentiful errors in watch catalogues, there are a lot more errors in harder-to-identify items such as musical instruments.) Nevertheless, they price as if they were selling certainty. Their pricing efforts seem to be assisted by the fact that their commission rates mysteriously seem to rise all together, although of course without any collusion (!)
Love the Lugs

It's gonna be on my wrist.  Robert
More great lugs....

Those are really interesting lugs too .  Can you share more pics, esp. the movement and case back markings?
Chain Lugs

Super clean example of the so-called Chain Lugs watch Berny...hope you have your paddle ready for the auction .  Do you know if it has the cal. 454/5B movement with 17 jewels or the 18 jewel version with Geneva Seal?
