Well, its already 2a.m. Saturday here.  Had another long day at the office (7:00-23:00) and will be back for more tomorrow.  I wore the Jubilee again (just like last week) so I will refrain from posting now.  My problem is that when I wear my Jubilee in the middle of the week, I just fall in love with it again and keep wearing it till Friday!

Anyway, I am looking forward to meeting up with one of them boutique Contemporaines soon (unless something else wins my heart this SIHH).

Have a nice weekend gentlemen (and ladies)!

Best

So I am getting ready to finally post a poorly taken picture of my wrist (my photography techniques are subpar at best), and honestly the upload send to server thing on the site is not working! lol

Doc is a classy guy so why not dress-up this week-end? Miki

Looks like you will be wearing a white tuxedo tonight :-)
03/14/2008 - 19:23

Cool, really cool, I see you sitting in the bar,

sipping on a dry martini, stirred not shaken......

Good hunt my friend

Thank God, they did! No tux, just basic a blue Hickey Freeman. Miki

a sentimental russian
03/14/2008 - 20:08

nothing fancy... just an old russian watch that belonged to my father in law who passed away last year...

The watch was obviously for the "outside Mother Russia" market as the "made in USSR" is in english! And so is the "15 jewels".

The movement is actually decorated, but of course this has nothing to do with a VC watch movement... (no pictures; I tried to take a picture of the movement but it was blur, so I am not posting it).

Even a russian watch can be delightful,
03/14/2008 - 21:06

in this case, first of all by it's provenance, it's toughing your heart,

and mine to, but it's also, in my eyes, a clean and cool watch

Take good care of it for the next generation !

Thanks for sharing it with us, Nico

Are you wearing it because you're "russian" away on vacation?

Have a great time!

This is my Hamilton Webster tonneau, lovely dial, n'est-ce pas?

Its from 1937, gold-filled. The solid gold ones are extremely rare, only about 500 made and most of those melted down.

This one (I've seen a few) has the nicest disal I've seen.

Regards,

Joseph

Beautiful Joseph!
03/15/2008 - 00:43

As the all European man I am, I still always liked the vintage Hamilton's,

and of course some of their fantastic pocket watches

Wonder from which firm they did get the inspiration,

for this lovely watch

A nice weekend to you and your family!

Doc

Very nice
03/15/2008 - 15:43

Is it a 14ct gold filled wadsworth case, it looks like you have a 16mm (?) strap on a 17mm (?) lug to lug watch there mate.

or are the lugs 19mm?
03/15/2008 - 15:44

The case looks too large to be 17mm betwen the lugs.

Re: or are the lugs 19mm?
03/15/2008 - 18:50

Hi,

The lugs measure at 17.5mm but I'm using a vintage Tissot strap of 17mm. I could probably use 18mm as well.

Its a WEBSTER model. The Wadsworth is more cushion shaped.

And it is 14k GF

Re: Re: or are the lugs 19mm?
03/15/2008 - 19:47

Hello JB, wadsworth is the factory that make the cases (usually 14k gold filled) for many vintage watches sold in the US, from Bulova, Omega, Hamilton and longines-wittnaur amongst many others, that's what I meant when I asked if it was a wadsworth case.

Re: Re: Re: or are the lugs 19mm?
03/15/2008 - 23:51

My apologies. I didn't know that.

I thought you were referring to their watch

Re: FRIDAY, what will be on your wrist tonight?
03/15/2008 - 16:50

OK it's not friday anymore and it's not quite finished, but at  the moment I have a watch on for testing purposes that I restored myself, it's a 14ct gold manual wind Girard Perregaux from around the  40's.

As you can see I still need to cut down the stem a little as it sticks out a bit too far, it also only runs for 14 hrs so I will need  to find out what base cal. it is and use the mainspring from that of a cheaper watch.
