A genius ! Louis Cottier !

Antiquorum use/used(?), to send a fantastic magazine,

2-3 times a year, but now I'm missing it since some time....A genius ! Louis Cottier !

Anyhow the following article was produced in 2002 I think.

I'll only scanned the magazine and hope you can read it.

You can always make the pics a bit bigger.

A really fascinating genius of the old time,

just look at him holding his elegant gloves !

I just love that A genius ! Louis Cottier !

A genius ! Louis Cottier !

A genius ! Louis Cottier !

A genius ! Louis Cottier !

A genius ! Louis Cottier !

Hope you liked it !

World timers have interested me recently

There is a certain romanticism to it

Debating whether to get the PP worldtimer or the malte chrono

Great article Doc!

Doc, who will be your current Louis Cottier?
11/17/2007 - 13:09

I'm not Doc but the real horological geniouses right now are
11/17/2007 - 15:35

as far as I'm concerned:

- Volker Vyskocil: his watch is noy yet ready but it is amazing in conception

- Felix Baumgartner from Urwerk

- Kari Voutilainen: who won best man's watch 2007 at the Geneva Grand Prix

- Philippe Dufour

- Geubel Forsey

Of course there are the masterminds working within the big brands but unfortunately they are not known to the public.

you are not including Smith?
11/17/2007 - 15:59

just wondering why...

I love Roger Smith's work but have yet to see something truly
11/17/2007 - 16:24

novel and complicated like the others I mentioned

Dufour was the 1st to create a double escapement watch (Duality) and Grande & Petite Sonnerie wrist watch

Greubel Forsey: just look at their tourbillons: amazing and lets not forget that they developped the fusée and chain mechanisme for Lange's phenomenal Pour le Merite

Urwerk: double sided wrist watch and the Opus V and the 201 have actually created a new way of reading time

Voutilainen: the first decimal minute repeater

I stand corrected :-)

thanks for the explanation

Very interesting article
11/17/2007 - 15:07

thanks for that, Doc!

You are indeed pushing hard to get VC to do a World Timer...

To be honest, it is not my favourite type of timepiece - I do not dislike them, but they are not at the top of my list either...

Anyway, Doc, keep on pushing and fighting, and hopefully one day will become true...

Very good information Doc. I hope also that VC could make it soon.
