Got a chance to slip out of the office today and visit the SH Boutique

I had a chance to sneak out on a nice Autumn day.  The Boutique was extremely busy today, but they let me take some pictures of their current exihibit.

Some of these following designs just make me swoon, and are great representations of why I love vintage VCs so much. heart

A predecessor to the Kalla line?

1954 Jumbo Ciccolotane Triple Date.  I will deal with all the hassles of setting the day/date info of this original beauty - if VC ever finds it in their heart to donate one to me, cheeky

I really like the design of the first one, very Art Deco. That layered look reminds me a bit of the top of the Chrysler Building in New York. Best, Joseph
Thanks JB, I forgot to mention - the 1st one is from 1919 too

And you are right, it does remind one of the Chrysler Building. I didn't notice that before you mentioned it. BR, Dan
Thanks for this great start to a Thursday, Dan

These are some really lovely pieces. I bet a lot of the guys will go bonkers over that triple date Ciccolotane. I like that trapezoidal one a lot, too.  And thank you for throwing in the ultra-thin from 1968.cheeky  So, that is the model pictured above that first housed the cal. 1120, correct? Or was it just one of the first models that year? You know how I feel about the Historiques 1968.  In fact, a devil we both know informed me just yesterday that there is one available right now.  devil On my way to the NY Boutique tomorrow... Best, Robert

The first three to use cal 1120 in 1967 were: Ref 7398 (launched in Sept 1967), ref 7399 (launched Oct 1967), and ref 7400 (launched Dec 1967). Two of these were round cases and one was a cushion case. I'm not sure of the exact model that the Historiques 1968 is based on, but it does look very similar to Ref. 6290 (which was available in 1963, with cal 1003 inside). Just like Ref. 6099 that the Historiques 1955 is based on, Ref 6099 was one of a few models that first year to use cal 1003. BR, Dan
You are right, Dan

The Historiques 1968 looks a lot like the ref. 6290, but I think it is actually a tribute to the ref. 7614 from 1968, which also housed the automatic cal. 1120 (more than 4 decades earlier!).  And it is more than 1 mm thinner than its historical predecessor.  I think the square shape puts a lot of people off, but I am amazed that more people do not recognize how awesome the Historiques 1968 is.  Darn it! I want one! Grumpily, Robert
Thanks for sharing Dan, beauties all fo them !
