Great VC event in Paris I

Hello VC loungers !

We had the great pleasure to attend to a great VC  event and listen to La Tosca from Puccini with great singers: Catherine Naglestad, Vladimir Galouzine, Franck Ferrari, conductor Nicola Luisotti and all the band...

We also enjoyed meeting with fellow loungers, famous people and enthusiastic VC guys !

I would like to share with you some very humble pictures and show you....a teaser : who is close to the nice worldwide clock made of glass (like "email cloisonné") offered to the Opera by Vacheron Constantin ?

Thanks to the artists and Mr Gérard Mortier (Director of the Opera), thank you so much Alex and  Mr Torres for a wonderful evening at the  Opera !

Thanks for the scans Berny. The clock VC offered the Paris Opera is an

amazing 7m long, 2.5 m high and weighs 2 tons!!!

Conceived by Swiss artists Ivan Moscatelli, this clock  called Laudator Temporis (Eulogy of Time) composed of 56 stained glass windows all individually made by master glass maker Werner Weyhe.  It represents a colorful world map with clocks indicating times in 10 major capital cities (ie: Paris, New York, Rio, Cairo, Beijing, Tokyo, Moscow...)

It took 5 full days to install and as not to disturb the rehersals or concerts the work was done between 1 AM and 10.30 AM!!

Its unveiling was covered by the evening news!!

On a more personnal note I think it is so refreshing to have  sponsorship of the arts and not a sporting, car, motorcycle or sailing events! Thats what Metiers d'Art truly means!

Wishing I could have been there!!!

Thanks Berny for the pictures! I remember being envious of the Parisian Loungers when I saw the offer for the first time on HL.

Alex I agree with you, it is really good that VC supports the arts and these kind of events rather than the usual boat race...

And I must say that VC's clock looks stunning!!!

I think it is a beautiful piece of art, I wish I could have it in my lounge

Thanks Berny for the pics.
