Green Gold

Hi all

I know VC has made watch cases with green gold (yellow gold with a hint /tinge of green)...

Anyone here have any colour photos of any of these watches, as I am intrigued to see the effect?

And further, is it ever used nowaday?

Hi Gary,

The green is obtained by adding a small amount of cadmium, but the result is a yellow-green rather than green.

Cadmiunm has health issues so I doubt it's used today.

Here is an article by Ales which you have likely seen which talks about green gold a bit. Most of the pics ar B&W though.

Here a link to an ebay auction selling a vintage green gold watch. It does look yellow though.

pocket watch from 1839 is displaying several kinds of different gold colors. As you can see the green gold color is one of them.  All the best Kent. TESSST
