Greetings From Aconcagua

Hello All:  I´m writing a brief message from the hotel in Mendoza to let you know that Vacheron Constantin was present on the summit of Cerro Aconcagua (6962m) at 3pm on Thursday, February 7th.  A first generation Overseas Chronometer served as my only time-keeper for the entire 8 hours final climb to the summit and 4 hours return to camp.  Needless to say, the watch performed flawlessly.

Resting on my wrist now, in the normal surroundings of the hotel lobby, I can see the shadow of a smile on her dial.  It was all great fun although as I write a climber has been missing on the mountain for over 24 hours so not everyone has been as lucky as our little group.

Many others are waiting to use the internet so I will share pictures once I return home Feb. 15.

Be well,

Congratulations!! What a feat! Good to hear from you and looking

Good job getting up there!! I hope the weather was nice and Nature's elements were not set against you!

You can certainly pamper your watch now: a nice warm bath, some nice malbec wine maybe, back-rub...

Where are you off too next? A bit of Tango in Buenos Aires maybe?

I hope the missing person makes it back down soon...

Congrats Dean, we are proud of you!

My son and I have been talking about a walk to the top of the highest Mountain in Sweden,

Kebnekaise 2.270 meters, this summer !

If we do it I will take V&C from the 30's,

because in that time,

this was still high

The south summit from the north.

BTW first to reach the summit was frenchman,

now I know some guys that smiles,

Charles Rabot, in 1883.

It's just a long, long walk, which 100's does every year,

the easy way, which we are thinking of!

once again congratulations

WAY 2 GO, Dean and V&C!!!

VC could also be proud of your action, bringing excellence (I mean the Overseas, at your wrist) at such level (I mean 6962 m).

In french, "chapeau bas, Dean": admiration, and admiration...

Impressive, most impressive!

Congratulations in such an accomplishment!

I am seriously impressed by your feat - I've seen a few programs about summit climbing from National Geographic, and every time I know that I would not want to do it. It takes a lot of guts, and it seems to be a quite gruelling physical experience! Not to mention all the risks... I do hope the missing climber will be found.

Congrats!!! ...
