When I first saw this digital pocket watch, in the best book, yet, about VC, "World Of VacheronConstantin",
on page 217, I just knew, that if opportunity was given to me, I should grab one !
This is from 1825 !!!
And in November 2007 I ran in to one from 1827.
Last week it finally landed in my hands
But it was not exactly as the one VacheronConstantin had in their museum...
It was something more with this watch, than that one had...
It's a beautiful back and when you open it,
you can't believe it's 181 years old
Just look at that engraving, by hand and what a condition !
But there is something else as I wrote, that makes this watch exceptional,
and that is the little tap at the crown !
I didn't believe my eyes
It's also a quarter repeater !
To start it, you pull out the tap and press it down !
The sound is so lovely that it's a pity I can't share it with you.
Quarter repeater means, for those who dosen't know, that at for instance 9:50,
it goes ding (lovely) 9 times, and then dig-dong 3 times (one ding-dong for each quarter).
It was very exclusive 1827, and in digital form I only seen Vacheron&Constantin's made.
A closer look at the both hammers and the rings.
Our hero and my dear friend, Directeur la Maison VacheronConstantin, Dominique Bernaz,
was as always, very nice and found all facts around this special watch.
As you see below, all the ten persons are named, who worked to complete this marvellous piece of art,
we did say so, that sometimes watches are art, didn't we ?
Please share my happiness, and enjoy what Vacheron&Constantin was able to do,
24 years before PP was founded
This a bit of the heritage that VacheronConstantin rests on,
and that's why they still are number one
