Happiness in the little details of watch paraphenalia

As a vintage collector,  and crazed VC fan...I love finding VC paraphenalia.  It is the best when these small things can be watch related.  This year, I was able to find a couple of boxes/cases that fit watches that I already had.

I've been searching for an appropriate case for my 58mm Chronometre Royale from 1908, and last month I found a case that fits.  It was made for a different (non-CR) pocketwatch, but it was the first one I've seen with a large enough ring to hold the CR.  It is not in the best shape, but I'll take it as a win.

I had this pocket watch case, but it was too small for the CR.  Luckily, it fits the 1914 FP V&C MR that I posted about yesterday.

I was also lucky enough to find an Ekegren watch box for JE Caldwell in very good condition that fit the MR as well:

I'm now just missing the wood box with brass holder for a 60mm V&C Deck Watch.

I don't know about you, but I get just as much fun and excitement in finding and acquiring these accessories as I do the watches.

BR, Dan

Great finds Dan

Agreed, it is fun to hunt these accessories.  Finding the Ekegren-Caldwell box was near-miraculous!
Thanks Dean! As I'm very sure you already know...

Wonderful memorabilia to complement the watches, Dan.

Sometimes you get lucky in these things. It really emphasizes the time period in which the pocket watches were created. Sort of bringing back the past history of the watches in a very real way. Congrats! Joseph
Oops, should be "Compliment"

No, I think you were right the first time, Joseph!  Unless the paraphenalia were saying nice things about the watches, that is... Best, Gary

Hi Gary, Sorry I didn't see your response sooner. Yes, you are correct. But when I looked at the word after typing it, and being a physician, I took the medical meaning of the word rather than the more common meaning of "an accompaniement" Talk about being focused or having blinders on! blush But I guess it could be both...sort of (LOL) Best, Joseph
Thanks Joseph :-) (nt)

Congratulation Dan!. Nice. Your right, papers, boxes and accessories are as well part of the watch history and it gives me as well pleasure to collect these items. Keep looking for the V&C Deck Watch box and I'm sure you'll find it. I wish you good luck!
thanks for your words of encouragement

Dan, you've presented your case most eloquently...

Finding the 'components'  is very much part of the hobby culture. A first-class demonstration of the joy that it brings! Let's hope your 'trawling' in 2014 produces some more excellent finds... Be lucky! Tony
Thanks Tony, I always hope for luck
