Rockets' red glare, bombs bursting in air...

July 1st marks Canada Day so that week is a double-shot of fireworks!  Here are a few pics from our window.

Rockets' red glare, bombs bursting in air...Rockets' red glare, bombs bursting in air...Rockets' red glare, bombs bursting in air...

Those lyrics BTW were penned by Francis Scott Key two hundred years ago while witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry and only a few weeks after British and Canadian forces occupied Washington and burned down the White House blush.  Thankfully, the War of 1812 ended in a truce which resulted in what came to be described as the world's longest undefended border...until 9/11.

I think we should add our sincere apologies...

My dad, who was born in Chicago and was very interested in history, once told me that Ben Franklin changed the wording on the Declaration of Independence from "The United Colonies in America" to the "The United States of America" which I always thought was very cool.

Does anyone know if that is true?

Dave

Thank you, Alex.

I find it interesting that Larry sent the original message wishing our American Loungers a happy July 4th and even more interesting his well wishes came from Russia.

This just goes to show that the world would be a happier and safer place if everyone could join our little international club.
