Hello. First Post and Opinions Wanted

My name is Ben and this is my first post here. I got to know about this forum for VC watches from the TRF site where I am quite active. I currently own an Omega Planet Ocean, a Rolex DateJust2, a Rolex Explorer II and a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.

I have been browsing the Vacheron Constantin website and find myself very attracted to this watch. The Overseas Dual Time 47450. This one :

Hello. First Post and Opinions Wanted

I will like to know what you think about my choice? What are the plus and minus of this model and is this consider a good watch to start venturing into Vacheron Constantine watches or there are better alternatives?

Finally, I will like to hear from expert members here what are the uniqueness and distinctive qualities of Vacheron Constantin watches? This brand seems to have a lower public profile compare to AP and Patek among the big three.

Thank you in advance. Have a nice day!

Hi and welcome, Personally I love this model, if you are looking for something sporty yet stylish it is the perfect choice ( IMHO) ! I love the power reserve indicator, the second time zone and the possition of the date, the crown that adjusts the date is quite handy too. I do suggest to find your closest retailer and try it on, you might fall in love with it (I did)!! The watch is water resistant 150 m .. + it has got an antimagnetic case VC prices go quite high so do not think VC is cheap :) it is not  .. regarding the movement - well, I leave it to experts

regarding the Overseas Dual time I personally find it to be a very beautiful watch even though my personal taste draws me more towards the model wuth grey dial and titanium bezzel. The Overseas is a good way to enter the VC world in my opinion and you can't really go wrong with ths however I do suggest you try the watch and if it puts a smile on your face then its yourssmiley As for what makes VC different I think each person will have a different view but if you check the Recommended Threads section you will find many interesting topics which could enlighten you. What made me go towards VC rather than PP or AP was a mix of different elements: I loved the history of the brand (if they've been around for 258 years meansthat they've been doing something right), the designs which are always classical with a twist (Quai de l'Ile, 1972 Prestige, American 1921 etc...) and the movement finish is just top notch with no short cuts taken and that's a huge plus in my book. I also like the fact that VC was under the radar compared to the likes of PP and AP just my 2c. keep us posted on your choice

Hi, it is the second choice from the left on the Top Menu, right after "All Articles"
I'm still holding out for a different dual-time mechanism.

The mechanism does not work like that of your Explorer II: unless there has been a change, the "jumping" hand, that is, the one you can adjust for different time zones, is the small one. I do not find that useful. JLC (which makes the movement in the dual-time Overseas) makes a movement with the jumping hand being the large hand. I wish Vacheron would use it. If the existing functionality meets your needs, there is little to criticize in your choice. Make sure the bracelt fits properly before you buy it, as it can be adjusted only through adding and subtracting links.
