Help with Borgel and Taubert Case Marks

Hi All:  A discussion is raging on another forum (gasp Help with Borgel and Taubert Case Marks) to confirm if casemakers Francois Borgel or their successors Taubert et Fils produced gold cases for Vacheron during the period of 1924 to 1950.  I've gone through my photo archives and cannot find any Vacheron cases marked for either maker.

Can you check your records for one of these marks and post a scan of the caseback with the date of manufacture, if known?

Hi Alex, I am "the gentleman doing research on the Borgel company" referred to by Dean. I hope you don't mind me asking some questions: "Borgel made water resistant cases for VC starting circa 1888." This date is actually before Borgel's patent for the case-with-screw-in-movement that we know as a Borgel case was published - patent number CH4001 published 28 October 1891. Of course this was the publication date and not the actual date of registering the patent, which is not quoted in these early patents, so Borgel could have been making cases to this design before the patent was published. There seems to be about a year lead time between registration of a patent and its publication. I would be very interested to know if you have any more information about the cases Borgel supplied to VC. I have also discovered that after Borgel's death in 1912 the business was carried on by his daughter Louisa Beauverd-Borgel, and that by 1925 the business had passed to Taubert & Fils, who styled themselves "Manufacture des boites Borgel". I know that you have stated that Taubert started making cases for VC starting 1932, but I would be interested if you had any more information about the transition period, such as when Borgel ceased to supply VC with cases. Regards - David
