Here is a (poor) photograph of part of the QDL presentation

I was fortunate enough to attend in Carmel. The event was hosted by the local Carmel AD  Hugues Chatel and his wife Jenny and V&C staff of course. Julien Tornare (President of VC North America) was a wonderful presenter, educator and ambassador for all things V&C. There were several professional photographers at the event and I am hoping they will be sending something "official" about the event to the Loungers. Chatel also was blessed with some special editions that are now in the shop in Carmel--just a heads up. Hugues and Jenny were wonderful hosts and the venue at the Carmel Valley Ranch was simply outstanding.  Julien and his group covered all the new watches, the QDL touch screen was there to demonstrate how to make your one in 400 combination of QDL watches. There were also some previews of the Explorateurs and few new offerings to be announced soon. All in all it was an outstanding evening that went well into the night with elegant surroundings, great conversation, food and watch friends. I hope the real pictures come out soon.

Best to you all, Tim

IMHO, the new Quai de l'Ile line is amongst the hardest watches to photograph out there.  It is practically impossible to capture the details, especially the engraving.  I think that most of the really good images are aided by some technical enhancement.  The above being said, I was shown some absolutely stunning photographs in Geneva.  The lighting was phenomenal and the essence of the watches was really captured in the images.  Unfortunately, the name of the photographer now escapes me but I was told that he actually specializes in car photography.  Alex might know of the photos that I am referring to... Anyway, I think we are all eagerly awaiting the delivery of these very special timepieces. By the way, did you have a chance to try out the configurator?  It is great fun to try out different combinations as you attempt to design your ultimate watch.  Duncan
Hi Duncan, you are correct on photographing the QDL

and I was shooting through glass with underlighting, side lighting and it was getting dark outside! It is a stunning watch in the metal and the configurator with the brillant screen really helps. It is going to be a blast to set up your own watch. Will you be going for the custom engraving too? Best, Tim
Haven't really decided about the custom engraving yet...

as I keep getting distracted by the different combinations.  If I do, then it will be something very simple as there is plenty of engraving elsewhere on the watch.  Perhaps just something like initials and maybe a date...  How about you? Given the situation, a tough watch being shot under extremely difficult circumstances, you did quite well! Duncan
Hi Duncan, it is hard to decide what to have engraved but

after all the creative effort to configure your own timepiece, it just seems like a natural thing to do. I am thinking about my Lounger login as a real possibility. This is really a captivating timepiece, just can't stop admiring it. Best, Tim
That's a cool idea Tim!

Of course, it is more interesting for you than for me given our respective Hour Lounge logins. There is also the issue of choosing between a customnized version versus one of the stanedard pieces, which are also great, extremely desireable and provide for "instant gratification". Choices, choices, choices....  These are the decisions that I enjoy making.    Enjoy your own decision maling process Tim. Duncan
Wish I had been there! Nice report. nt
