Historiques Chronometre Royal 1907 in platinum and blue enamel dial

Historiques Chronometre Royal 1907 in platinum and blue enamel dial: A unique timepiece for Kidz Horizon Appeal 2013 charity auction
from the press release:

In memory of Duncan Wang, an avid watch collector and charitable businessman, Vacheron Constantin proudly presents a new, one-of-a-kind Historiques Chronomètre Royal 1907, with blue enamelled dial using the Grand Feu technique, encased in the most prestigious material – Platinum - for this year’s Kidz Horizon Charity Ball.   As a most fitting way of carrying on Duncan’s legacy of his two passions – watches and charities – Duncan’s parents and friends auctioned off the first “Duncan Watch” at the Kidz Horizon Charity Ball in 2010. Fittingly, that watch was made by one of Duncan's favourite watch manufacturers, Vacheron Constantin, and it raised S$60,000 at the Kidz Horizon Appeal's annual fund-raiser that year.   For this year’s charity auction, Vacheron Constantin has created a unique version the Historiques Chronomètre Royal 1907.

The watch will raise funds in support of the Kidz Horizon Appeal, a non-profit organization in Singapore led by Dr Caroline Heah. The charity’s mission is to raise funds for children requiring special medical attention for chronic or terminal illnesses such as cancer and AIDS. This one-of-a-kind timepiece piece will be auctioned at the Kidz Horizon Charity Ball on August 17, 2013. The auction sale proceeds will go directly to the charitable organization.   In honor of Duncan’s appreciation for distinctive hand-made materials, the dial is made according to the Grand Feu technique, entirely hand-crafted according to traditional processes. This technique implies firing the dial at a very high temperature (on average between 800°C & 850°C), and the dark blue of the enameled dial results from many trials to reach an intense and uniform color. The enameled minute-track, numerals, logo and a ‘secret’ “KIDZ HORIZON” signature on the dial, took 5 times more labour hours (a total of 50 hours) than expected as the difficulty was to maintain a pure white color despite the dark background.   This magnificent exterior is matched by a truly imperial movement. The Historiques Chronomètre Royal 1907 houses a mechanical movement bearing the Hallmark of Geneva, and a chronometer-rating certificate from the Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). The mechanical self-winding Calibre 2460 SCC has been entirely designed, developed and manufactured by Vacheron Constantin. This state-of-the-art movement is equipped with a stop seconds device enabling the wearer to stop the watch completely and thus achieve adjustment to the nearest second. The Calibre 2460 SCC is also distinguished by the careful bevelling work on the bridges decorated with the Côtes de Genève motif, and by the circular graining on the mainplate. This meticulous finishing, worthy of the finest Haute Horlogerie models, can be duly admired through the sapphire crystal case-back.   “One of Vacheron Constantin’s longstanding values is its openness to the world, which includes giving back to our communities and lending support to charitable causes around the world. Vacheron Constantin is very proud to partner again with Kidz Horizon Appeal, to support their mission and to raise awareness for this worthy cause. With the unique watch created by Vacheron Constantin for the 2013 Kidz Horizon Appeal, we anticipate a strong response at the auction which will raise important and needed funds for the charity”, says Ellen Sorensen, Managing Director, Vacheron Constantin South-East Asia.

Gorgeous. Platinum with dark blue dial is just breathtaking. Really appreciate the cause for which this one off piece is created. Would VC ever consider a WG Version with this blue dial? And how can one not love the transparent caseback with the rotor where it says VAcheron & Constantin.
A beautiful watch for a wonderful cause in the memory of a great

man. I would simply like to say thank you to Alex and everyone involved at Vacheron Constantin for all the work and love that went into this project. You have truly done a wonderful thing and touched my heart. Thank you all so much, Tim
The best version of the CR1907 yet

Well, I think so anyway.  This is a beautiful edition of the CR.  It is too bad that this is a one-off piece, but it is for a good cause. It is nice to read remarks from the lovely  Ellen Sorensen in her new role as Managing Director, Vacheron Constantin South-East Asia. We miss her here in the US. Best regards, Robert
Agree with Robert on all accounts

A truly wonderful edition of CR 1907 and for a great cause too. What a fantastic way to honor and commemorate our dear fellow Lounger, Duncan! Just curious if you are aware of the watch that was auctioned at the last year's Kidz Horizon event. It was also one of Duncan's time-masterpieces - a one-off titanium skeleton Royal Oak 41mm. That's what you call generosity... I agree Ellen is a wonderful addition to the South-East Asia VC team. I have very fond memories of our joint encounter with her a couple years back in NYC. Good times. Cheers buddy!

That was a great day.  Ellen showed us some really nice watches. I caught my first glimpse of the gray dial Pt. 81180, and I went home with the US Edition Overseas.smiley Hope your summer is going great, Radek. Robert

A magnificent watch for a wonderful cause in honour of a terrific guy! Congratulations Vacheron! What a great tribute and a very touching one. Joseph
A fantastic watch and story

This piece represents the best spirit of Duncan and VC.  The secret signature between 7 and 8 o'clock is a nice touch!  The new owner is a very lucky person to have No. 1/1 of this now-iconic timepiece.  Will this be an annual event?
Beautiful watch and gesture...

I understand that blue enamel dials are very difficult to produce. Kudos to VC for making the effort on this special watch. Bill
Personalisation - taken to a new level...

The 'Kidz Horizon' signature/logo between the 7 and 8 adds a beautiful touch to this prestigious timepiece. This, unquestionably, is a work of art and extremely discreet. Continuing the 'Duncan Watch' theme for such a worthy cause is a lovely thought in so many respects. Here's wishing the Charity Ball all the success it deserves plus a bumper auction result! With all good wishes Tony

Simply beautiful. It speaks very highly of VC that hey should produce such a tasteful and beautifully executed piece when they could easily have donated something more mundane. Bravo!
An exceptional piece befitting such an honorable cause and a great man

Knowing Dunca's love for craftmanship and perfection, this is 'his' type of VC... Congrats to all involved in such a great cause Thank you Alex for the post - by any chance did you manage to get real shots of the watch?

Wonderful dial, great cause.

'Bravo' VC... G
That watch will deservedly earn a fortune for the fundraiser.

A design triumph. I would note that it is very generous of Vacheron to sell something that good as a unique piece. If they offered it to the public it would sell like hotcakes.
So much good taste in this project

The watch, the cause, the story. I didn't know Duncan personnaly but wherever he is, he must love what he sees. hats off Francois

Only Vacheron Constantin is able to manufacture such watch with supreme elegance. Unfortunately is a piece unique.
