The Hour Lounge watch contest vote for your favorite Complicated watch

OK here goes, The Hour Lounge watch contest The Hour Lounge watch contest vote for your favorite Complicated watch

The jury (Doc, Radek, Fred and myself) pre have preselected 6 time only watches from the amazing array of suggestions the Loungers submitted. The next step would be to convince VC to make this watch specially for us.The Hour Lounge watch contest vote for your favorite Complicated watch To keep the eventual price of the watch low we did not pick watches which would have requested new case sizes, modification of movements, new complications or enamel dials... We also did not keep ideas for watches which we thought VC would be using for regular production models or for special markets (ie: white gold with black dials...)

Vote for your favorite 3: your first choice will recieve 3 points, second choice 2 points and third choice 1 point. Votes open til Wednesday December 19, 10 o'clock Geneva time. The winning watches shall be announced the same day.

One quick question before I make my final selection...
12/13/2007 - 13:43

It's concerning the Bi-Retrograde in the Hommage aux Grands Explorateurs case.

Will all the proportions stay the same, or will the dial look a little bit more cramped? Since we are going from a 42 to 39mm case, I just want to make sure that the size of the lettering, the hours markers, etc. can be reduced to keep the same proportion....

Thanks to the judges for all their time and effort (and thanks for choosing the creation from Fred/Moi...)

the dial will be reworked as to keep the proportions in a smaller case

My selection:
12/13/2007 - 14:14

2) 6- Toledo 1952 in rose gold with non guilloche chocolate dial

3) 3- Bi-Retrograde in Hommage aux Grands Explorateurs, case in rose gold, and slate grey dial (39mm)

I've said it a bunch of times, but I'll say it again: many thanks to all for coming up with the idea of the contest/ managing the process/ making the pictures/ judging/ participating in it... it's been a whole lot of fun for me!!

thanks a lot for this brightfull idea!!!
12/13/2007 - 14:38

Here it goes:

First: 3

Second: 6

Third: 5

now it's only a question of hope....

My vote
12/13/2007 - 15:10

Thanks to Fred, Alex, and all our judges.

My votes go to:

1. No. 3

2. No. 4

3. No. 6

I already have the regular Toledo but No. 6 just has to be the ulimate Cioccolatone!!  I just hope that if no. 4 or 6 is picked out, there will be a quick adjustment for the day of the week (the biggest drag for the Toledo).

Don't know if I will be able to afford any of them but the voting is fun!

Cheers,

Kazumi

"Don't know if I will be able to afford any of them..."
12/13/2007 - 16:41

Exactly my thoughts, Kasumi! I just purchased 2 watches (a Citizen Campanola & Patrimony boutique edition) this year and I don't know if I can afford another one, especially the complicated one. The Patrimony hasn't got much wrsit time as something was wrong with the dial & I sent it back to Geneve for a new dial (VC changed it free of charge)...this one should get the most wrist time when I get it back after Xmas.

What are you complaining about!!! You've got that lovely boutique ed.
12/13/2007 - 17:39

Hi Rei,

I can understand how you feel.  For a few of us, timing is everything.  But, hey, you've got that gorgeous boutique edition coming your way so its not so bad.

Personally, I wish this came up before I got my PP5146 & Toledo last year.  I would have definitely gone for the chocolate Toledo (if chosen), or even the triple date patrimony.

Well, at least I was already able to get my 1-year old daughter a singing "Barney" stuffed toy for Christmas. I think that's most important for now.

All the best,

kazumi

Barney? Not Hello Kitty?
12/14/2007 - 03:08

I love your 5146, Kazumi. Wish to get a PP someday (when they start producing something I like )

don't worry Rei, if VC accepts between the 1st projects and final
12/13/2007 - 17:40

production piece the watch wouldn't be ready before end 2008-early 2009 so you have time to save

that is exactly what I wanted to hear....
12/13/2007 - 20:04

that will give me enough time to save if the model(s) I am routing for comes out on top

didn't realize it would take this long...
12/13/2007 - 20:14

oh well I guess I will have to wait... I am sure our ultimate choice will be worth the wait!

I am heavily invested in something right now
12/14/2007 - 03:06

so need to come up with other source for cash, hehehe... But hopefully I like the watch chose too.

My vote No,3
12/14/2007 - 10:23

Thanks.

V.Piguet

my pick.....
12/13/2007 - 15:41

would be :

1. no.6  rose gold toledo, i have just discovered the beauty of the case after trying out onein regular production, seem harmless on display, but once u strap it on, it's another story !!!

2. no.4 rose gold triple date calendar, the engrave moon is a resilient feature, however in production, the windows have to be further apart and size more balanced ( totally empathise fred's difficulty with the photoshop)

3. no. 5. malt chrono ruthenium dial

malte chrono would be my first choice if its silver dial without guilloche, being a chrono fan.

My pick:
12/13/2007 - 16:24

1. Watch #2

2. Watch #3

3. Watch #4

Watch #2/3 are REALLY nice in terms of balance, but I just don't like the name of days in English.

my vote goes to...
12/13/2007 - 16:32

1.) No. 3 Bi-Retro RG in Sputnik/Explorateurs case (3 points)

2.) No. 5 Malte Chrono (2 points)

3.) No. 2 Bi-Retro WG in Sputnik/Explorateurs case (1 point)

My picks ...
12/13/2007 - 20:10

1) No.6,

2) No.4,

3) No.3.

Hi guys,

My apology if I wasn't able to participate in the previous debates as I'd wish, but that is not to say I didn't follow almost all the posts with increasing interests. Thank you Alex and Doc and all of you for this amazing contest!

#6.

Sorry Alex

I'll have to be contrairian! I've never been very fond of the bi-retrograde (just  personal taste)

Joseph

Well, my choices seem to be from>>>
12/13/2007 - 23:11

the bottom to the middle. I am picking number 6 as my first choice; number 5 as my second choice; number 4 as my third choice. However, I really like them all, seriously and will be thrilled to have any of the 6. Many thanks for all the time and effort in this body of work and I really encourage V&C to produce this watch for us. Just a small question--will the caseback have the Loungers and a limited number engraved? Looking forward to seeing the winner. Tim

Regarding the case back inscriptions I think best would be to
12/14/2007 - 09:11

discuss this once (and if) VC decides to make the watch and among those who really are planning on getting one

I was just swept up in the excitement>>>

didn't mean to push the process--this is really fun. Tim

Sorry guys, but failing to have seen the Bi-retrograde in the flesh I just can't warm up to this watch. As for the chronograph, I still think that ref 47111 was much more balanced than this one, if a tad small...

Again, thank you everyone and Alex, of course, for this forum and contest.
