I will officially join this club tomorrow morning!

I have always liked watches but never gotten seriously into them until very recently.  I have an Omega Seamaster and an Ebel Discovery 1911.  I like both watches very much, but within the past month I've had a desire to get something more exclusive.

My search began with the watch I've wanted for the past 15 years, the Rolex Daytona SS.  I started doing my research and was shocked to find out that while it retails for $7,900 US, but actually sells for $11,500 because of Rolex's amazing marketing prowess.

Trying to find a better deal on that watch, I enlisted the help of two acquaintances who I knew were watch experts.   They gave me some pointers about where I might find good quality pre owned Daytonas, and then both gently and subtlely began to educate me on the ways of fine watches.

So began my month long journey into Pateks, VCs and APs.

In the end, the one that won my heart was the Overseas Chrono Limited Edition.  They were not easy to find.  At least not for any reasonable price, but I was persistent.

As I write my first post on here tonight, I am hitting the UPS tracker site over and over to follow the path that my OS is taking on its journey to me.  It's due to be delivered in 12 hours.

I can't wait to I get my hands on it.   If I can take some nice pictures of it, I'll post them.   You all have seen this model before, but since it's going to be my most prized possession, I'll have to post some brag pictures.   What is it about a fine watch that can win a grown man's heart like this?

I do have a question for you guys:  what is the proper way to pronounce Vacheron anyway?   Is the "ON" in Vacheron pronounced like the word "ON" or is it "OWN"?   Heard my friend say Vacher"own", but he's from the Northeastern part of the US and it could just be his accent.   What's the right way to say it?
Vacher - on. The shorter the 'o' the better.... French accent helps

I am official!

It came today.  Can't believe I actualy own a VC.  Loving it! Here are a couple of quick scans off my iPhone.  My first to dos are to (1) switch over to the rubber strap (I want to save the leather and I actually think the black rubber will be a better color match with the dial), and (2) look into also getting a bracelet.  I saw a post on this site where someone quoted VC USA telling him that a new OS bracelet was only $130.   If they are that inexpensive, I will definitely pick one up just to see how the US LE looks with the bracelet as an option.  That's another positive for me. It was either this watch or the Daytona. Rolex bracelets can often run in the thousands for no good reason.  Insane.     BTW - The black dial is not shinny or reflective like it seems in some pictures.  In person, it's quite muted (good thing IMO).

May it be the first of many. Bad news on the bracelet, though: the price you quoted will not buy you a single replacement link.
How much does a replacement bracelet cost?

I should have known that the price someone posted was way too low.  I was just telling my wife that VC is so cool that they don't try to kill you on the bracelet like Rolex does...   Oh well, I'll get the price from my local AD tomrrow.  I've asked him for a complete price list on the SS bracelet, leather strap, rubber strap and the SS buckle.  Will post when I get it.  Thank you everyone for your nice welcome.  It's greatly appreciated.   A funny story to share with the VC community.  After I got this watch yesterday, my wife goes out shopping today and goes crazy.   She went to four stores and dropped a thousand dollars in about 2 hours buying clothes and shoes.   She was taking full advantage of the fact that I am in no position to complain about her shopping after buying this watch.   So my VC actually just cost me an extra $1,000 over what I paid for it.  No telling what the final price will be....   I'll be paying via my wife for a while.

I bought my wife her own VC, as well as an Omega...

which has helped a lot, but hasn't totally made things even in her mind.  .  She is continuously on the look out for things that bring a harmonious balance to the universe.  My splurging on new acquisitions of vintage VCs really doesn't help me - I guess I'm just a happy masochist? BR, Dan
Very Nice!

The strap should be included with all OS watches IMHO .  The red on black dial add a sporty character to the watch too.
Congratulations! Beautiful Overseas LE! (nt)

"May this watch always show happy hours - for you yourself, your people, and the peace of this world."  I particularly like the balanced subdials and the red stiching of the strap. George
Congrats! it looks fantastic! (nt)

Thanks again for the warm welcome guys.  So I'm wearing my Omega Seamaster today as punishment.  Went out last night with my #29 and found myself talking, "bragging" about my watch to everyone.  I have lots of regular folks as friends.  To them, a $800 Movado is an expensive watch.   Consequently, a VC is an insane concept.   Obviously, if I wanted a watch to brag about, I should wear a Rolex.  Showing off a VC to non watch lovers felt very gauche to me.  Hard for me not to though; I always talk about things that I love.   Anyway, I've told myself that I need to wear my more pedestrian watches until I can stop talking about my watch in public.  :-)
hey wear your watch everyday, its for your friends to get
