Some time ago Leonardo was searching for figures about the 222 production.

Well, here they are, from deep inside

VacheronConstantin Heritage Department IMORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL 222 LOVERS !

Date of production                        :   from 1977 to 1985

Production of steel pieces            :   about 500

Production of gold pieces             :   about 100

Production of steel / gold pieces :   about 120

I hope it is a wellcome answer to many questions.

That's anyhow as much as the Old Firm knows itself IMORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL 222 LOVERS !

I thought it was a lot more produced during that long time !

Take care of your raities IMORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL 222 LOVERS !

Doc you should have NEVER released this information!!
03/04/2008 - 18:07

I was looking for a steel 222 and now I'll never find one

I'm really surprised by the low production number, I was however under the impression that the steel version was the rarest and the steel/gold model with the highest production numbers.

Thanks for the info Doc

For a tenth of a second, I thought, what the h-ll have done now

You are my man, Alex

Say, can you do the same for all models?
03/04/2008 - 18:09

Just kidding....

He, he, he...
03/04/2008 - 18:29

If I was paid well, and all guys were as enthusiastic as the "222 aficionados",

I'll do it

Anyhow it can be useful in the Book, in the future !

DOC, while I was reading I was trembling!

Now I have just to collect watch from service and post a lot of photos!

I didn't think there was just 720 "222"!

See you after dinner!

03/04/2008 - 21:47

I think it's important to remember that VC produced 2 tipes of 222: large versione (37mm) with 1121 movement, and a little version (34mm) with a jaegger caliber.

So, considering that 222 "big taille" is a commemorative version, its produciont was really limited!

little 222

large 222

It's my pleasure Leonardo!
03/04/2008 - 22:22

What a surprise for you  and I think for all VacheronConstantin aficionados !

Only 720 made in 8 years, that's about what Rolex makes per hour !

Congrats all you 222 fellows

It's fine things you have gentlemen.  Doc

     Sorry Alex !

This is a great information, and much worth to put down in THE book, Doc.

You've got a real and unique connection, my dear...

BTW, Alex has 4 times more chances to find a steel case 222 than in steel/gold!!!

More about serials
03/05/2008 - 02:55

Adding DOC's data to serials we have found in Orologi&Passioni (italian forum) we can make 2 hypotesis (till now!):

1)        XXX/500 (or all) steel 222 37mm produced only in 1977 for VC anniversary. We have serials of 10 steel "222", and they

are included in a range of 400 pieces, that agrees with 500 steel pieces.

          "222" gold version, steel/gold versione, 34mm (s, s/g, G) + lady version (s, s/g, g): produced from 1977 to 1985

We have serials of 1 gold and 1 lady version, and numeration can coincide with '70 VC production (3500 pieces for year)

          but after 1977.

2)       Each version have a consecutive numeration.

If somebody can give us other serials, please, post here or best, contact me!

Impressive Doc that you can get such info...
03/05/2008 - 14:55 the way, how's the book coming along??

222 owners question...
03/09/2008 - 02:42

How many links is a full-size 222 bracelet?  Or at least, how many links for an 8" wrist or whatever you have, if you don't mind revealing this intensely personal information?

The few that I've seen all seem to have different number of links, so I assume they've been shortened.

Re: 222 owners question...

A full siza bracelet shold be 18 + 2 links (7+11+1+1)
