Important message ! Alex delete the thread about the pocket watch!

It was a traitor, who just wanted to use us questioning about ebay.

He also showed interest for other brands !!

This must be a lesson to all of us.

Suggestions?

I will in the future be uttery careful,

if ever again answering a newcomer,

since this happened several times now.

Alex please delete the thread, it could create confusions in the future.

I'm really angry Important message ! Alex delete the thread about the pocket watch!

Doc

on the contrary, lets keep it up and send the link to ebay so all can

see that the watch is not genuine

I agree with Alex, leave the post up...

so that any prospective buyers doing research may find it and know the guy is a BS artist. One reason I really respect this forum is because the participants don't have pecuniary interests in the discussions. The often-repeated advice given in response to queries on value has been to encourage posters to do their own research. Maybe this should also be the norm on questions of authenticity unless its an active forum member that is already known to us. One sign of the HL's (and Vacheron's) growing popularity is that the forum will attract scammers and con artists. We need to deal with it as a community of participants now rather than later. Any other ideas?

Doc, hard words for a person you don't know.

I understand how you feel about it, but be sure I'm feeling the same. My questions was not intend to obtain any price information and I was not aware that the clock will be offered for sale, I thought I gather just information about the watch collection.

And if you really readed my concerns from the start you should know that I have declared that .. in my first posts! I have never asked for a price! And only searching for more detailed info about the watches.

One last question, how I could possibly controll the shared info on how it will be used in the future?

Sorry, if you feel this like a mess, but I know I have not violated any of your Forum Rules and treated all of you with respect.

Alex

Hi Alex, from your different answers I feel that you are sincere and
03/30/2008 - 18:11

that you are in an uncomfortable position. Thank you for clearing things.

You have to understand that we are a community of aficionados and enthusiasts. We have in the past have had many people come pick our brains and knowledge before putting their watch up for sale, if a poster comes out right open and states that he wants info for commercial purposes that's fine but then we have people who come and are greeted with open arms as a friend and community member and we try to help as much as possible to find that we have been "used" and taken advantage of.

The point is if someone wants info for commercial reasons he should say it right out. You seem to be of good faith so just lets all let it be and move on.

Could not say it better myself. Being between the hammer and the anvil is not like the feel I like.

I understand very well your point and I was aware that I'll find here dedicated enthusiasts for my research, as I do. I appreciate your work and helping me out and I'm trully sorry if I cause you any troubles and discomfort. I meant no harm to anyone and if I was familiar with the owners of the watch intention to gather info for selling purposes, I would start with that.

Trully gratitudes to Doc on the first place, to Alex Ghotbi and to mt858. Thanks for your help guys and hope you'll forgive me for any caused inconvenience.

However, I won't quit working on my VC dream :) Hope to come back and see you again soon .. this time with VC on my wrist.

Bye

Alex

I think that another negative impression came from the fact
03/30/2008 - 20:44

that everyone expressed great diubts on the authenticity of the watch which was then put on the bay as a genuine one!

Yes, I've noticed that too. Actually seems stupid to me too, cause as I already shared all that I learned here I have told to the owner, as well with the authenticity doubds. It's his decision how he gonna manage the situation or what he gonna do in future. I'm out of this mess, cause do not see a point to bristle up with all that .. just for nothing. Anyway, I'll e-mail him again, cause more or less I feel part of this and the way the watch is described does not seems correct for me, as well.

Alex, the UN has a job for you any time...
03/30/2008 - 19:44

because you are one hell of a diplomat

Maybe if I worked at the UN I could spend 100% of my time on

yup, that would be great - 100% instead of 95%...

To anyone, who might be interested.

Hello,

Just short update. After my last e-mail last night to the owner I was assured by him, that the watch will be put off from sale, until is properly recognized as real or fake. Well, I won't deal with this from now on and this remains his own problem.

Thank you

Alex

VC confirmed a few minutes ago thet the watch is NOT a genuine VC (nt)
