it seems to me that I prefer the excellence PT as a wirstwatch
Fantastic Idea! Nice Case Too...

I wonder if interest in pocketwatches will increase in the future?  My own children are very interested in them because they are so "novel" in their experience.   This plat version is a real classic beauty, but I most like the leather case for my own vintage PW....Alex, do you know if the case can be ordered seperately?

I second the motion regarding the case. I have 2 from the 1940's, also flat case design. Joseph
Beautiful new pocketwatch, I like everything about it!

I don't have to tell you what I think of it since this is what I am wearing this very moment...

Stunning piece!

Oh that's remind me of my father!
09/08/2009 - 23:13
My father died when I was 24 years old, he was born 1904 (!) and I was the last child, so my father was 44 years old, when I was born. He was a man with one foot still in the Victorianism, but because he also was a Doc, he was used to communicate with young persons too. But still he was The Doc. He always wore tailored suits with waist, and of course he often wore a PW. He normally had one very 'look a like', this beautiful V&C, as I rember,  but it was an Omega in silver with a black leather strap!  Absolute nearly identical dial, I have a photographic memory, so right now I can see it for my eyes I don't know where it went lost, perhaps my sister has it,  I must ask! If so I'll be back with a post! Absolute stunning Vacheron&Constantin anyhow, I really would like to put it in my waist pocket, in my new bespoke suit, which I received just two months ago Doc

Simple, elegant, stunning. I love pocket watches! I'm glad VC is one of the few companies that still produces them. m

Thanks for the article Alex. I do find it interesting that this

watch has such a classic presentation from the front, while the reverse seems to have such a modern flavor. I think the platinum may have something to do with this presentation. The more flat cut of the platinum, married to the sapphire seems to give a much more modern look on the reverse side. It will be a pleasure to see it in the metal. Beautifully done! Best to all, Tim
Great to see a new VC PW...

I know the market hasn't been large for pocketwatches recently, but I've always had a soft spot for them.  I remember buying my first pocketwatch in 1985 when I was still in college, it was definitely not high-end (got it at a Service Merchandise catalog store), but the form factor was something that definitely struck a chord with me.  Maybe its because it was something different and seldomly seen in public at the time? I also received a pocketwatch from my father-in-law as a wedding present in 1999.  It was a watch he received as a gift in the 1991, it was made by a Chinese manufacturer and gold plated.  While not quite up to haute horology, it was still considered a luxury for the average mainland Chinese citizen and is a gift with tremendous sentimental value to me. I hope VC continues to make pocketwatches, even if in limited quantities, and helps to keep the form factor alive. BR, Dan
