Introducing the Patrimony Traditionnelle WorldTime Only Watch 1/1

The Only Watch auction is held every two years. Watch brands offer unique watches or the 1st piece from a limited edition and the proceeds of the sale goes to research against muscular dystrophies.

For the 2013 (Auction on Sept 28, 2013) Vacheron Constantin has created a unique Patrimony Traditionnelle WorldTime model in platinum with a white closonne enamel dial with a red day night ring (the colors of Monaco, where the auction is held). This watch which depicts 37 time zones (and not the 24 habitually found in worldtimes) has Monaco as the city representing GMT+1 (in the regular version GMT+1 is represented by Geneva).

While I like the blue colour scheme of the original, I

like this one too. Very original. and the red touch is nice, and so is the map.
Getting closer...

to my dream World Timer heart.  With multi-colored enamels for the countries and vintage Cottier-style hands, it would make a awesome update for SIHH 2014.
Looking great and I hope it raises a ton for the good cause

Not surprisingly, I prefer this one-off version a whole lot more than the original in RG. While I hold PT dear and have an obvious weakness for it, I think the color scheme on this piece is exceptionally well played. White and red are our national colors, just as is the case with Monaco, and it is simply irresistable. I already envy the highest bidder. I only hope VC comes up with a limited edition of a slightly different version of the very watch just as they did with the The Only Watch QdI Tantalum - hint, hint ;-)

Indonesia and Monaco have the same flag!

I hope this contribution by VC brings in a great deal of money for this worthwhile cause. It is always interesting to see what all the different manufacturers provide for this auction. I am a great fan of the original World Timer design. When I saw this one, before reading the text, I thought it was a LE for the Russian market blush, given its severe dial and red accents. Then I saw the map of Western Europe and read the text. Much too serious for me, although the original is very appealing. As for the hands, I really like the ones on this watch and I think VC has done a terrific job. The hands on the Agassiz world time wrist watch are lovely and they still appear in a slightly different form on the Patek Word Time. (Also seen on VC's 6382 pocket watch). I'm not sure whether Cottier or Agassiz designed the hands. However I prefer the "variation" seen on the Urban Jurgensen watches, which or may not be based on the Agassiz design. There is a definite similarity, though. Fantastic movement!
While I am admittedly biased toward vintage...

that is a really lovely contemporary model. I have little doubt that it is far more impressive in person, and I am sorry that I won't have a chance to fondle it! Thanks Alex. Regards, Tony C.
Beautiful!

Like Radek, I hope that VC releases after this one-off piece a bigger run of slightly modified version - replacing the red by blue, and platinum with WG, for example. The only thing at I dislike on the WT is the 'printed' map, which looks a bit 'cheap' (the expression is a bit strong) - having an enamel dial takes this watch to another level IMO. I would love to see real shots of this piece... Another wish of mine would be to see the WT in the Excellence Platine collection - now that woud be something! Cheers, Francois

A biennial event...

How time flies..............it only seems like yesterday when the previous auction was held. I wonder if any of the Loungers can remember the watch that VC offered in 2011 and the amount it raised? The current offering in platinum has certainly struck an accord with colleagues and that is no surprise - it scores well with me too!yes... Some 'natural' photographs would, I feel, add a dynamic that is currently missing. Here's wishing the auction every success in raising funds for such a worthwhile cause. Tony
I'll be posting live photos in about a month or so...

So chic! It's as beautiful as the cause it's ticking for :-) The white cloisonné enamel dial adds so much "depth" in the watch and the design team did an excellent job on colour-matching.
Stunning Only Watch

Hope all brands' Only Watches auction well at great prices for this noble cause. Of course I wish this stunning VC Worldtime does exceptionally well (I am biased to VC of course! ) Cheers Robin Wong
