Invitation to a Private Reception London April 3 to view CRAFTED

Invitation to Champagne Reception and Private View of CRAFTED at Somerset House, London – Wednesday 3 April   We are happy to invite The Hour Club members to a champagne reception and private view of the Walpole mentorship programme and inaugural exhibition; ‘Crafted - Makers of the Exceptional’.  Vacheron Constantin are proud sponsors of this event to be held at The Seamen’s Hall, Somerset House, London, WC2R 1LA on Wednesday 3 April from 6.30-9pm.   Recognising that many luxury brands rely heavily on the work and experience of artists and craftmakers, Walpole developed the mentorship programme Crafted.  Crafted provides one-to-one mentorship and a series of educational workshops for a small number of carefully selected Craftsmen from a wide range of disciplines. The aim is to foster a sense of entrepreneurialism in developing craft businesses and provide opportunities to help them grow beyond the traditional owner scope of many businesses, whilst preserving the talents of unique skills for future generations of Craftsmen.   Fine artistic craft is an integral part of the Vacheron Constantin brand. Throughout its 258 years of existence, Vacheron Constantin has constantly combined the works of the finest artists in order to offer the quintessence of finishing and decoration. These dedicated artisans all play their part in building a reality that could never shine so brightly without the human hand. However, their manual skills are threatened with extinction and Vacheron Constantin sees it as their responsibility to protect such age-old expertise and to ensure that it endures.  Joining the exhibition from Vacheron Constantin will be the world-famous miniature portraitist and enameller, Anita Porchet.   http://www.craftedshowcase.co.uk/   Please note that the invitations are available on a first come first served basis, you will receive a confirmation email with further details if we are able to accommodate you and your guest for this exclusive event, invitations can be collected at the door.   If interested please contact:julie.gorecki@vacheron-constantin.com

I'm intending to go to this exhibition on Thursday, but would it be worth changing my plans and going for this Champagne reception? Apart from the champagne will there be anything different to the normal exhibition over the following 3 days?

Ah, it's next to King's!! Would love to go but got a flower exhibition to set up in Paris and the order to participate is from Tokyo, so I have to stay put, willingly, I love flowers and watches, and in that order, reluctantly ;)

I went to this event on Saturday, it was great. There were some artists doing there crafts right there and then. Also, another room with VC staff, materials, and a few of the watches. I spoke to the VC rep Tina, who was very welcoming lovely and friendly. I learnt a lot about the enamelling process; I had no idea how difficult an art it is.  Thanks Alex for posting up this thread as I would not have learnt about the exhibition otherwise.
glad you enjoyed the event!
