I've got an idea, might not be new

I guess the 'X-Factor' model is global so you will know what I'm talking about, but apologies if it doesn't translate well everywhere (bitten by that dog before!). The first few rounds, where you get to see the real dross who think they can sing, there sister tells them they can sing, their mom tells them they can sing and they can't sing. Well, let's have a roll call of all the fake watches put up here for review. And vote for the best? G
you start, I'll need to sort my favorites out first

Embrace the fakeness

What a brilliant idea!  Rather than feeling my blood pressure rise every time I see a post about "is this obvious fake a priceless watch?" I can begin to see it as an opportunity for occasional fake-o-ramas!  Genius. On the topic of "things not translating," I recently saw a video of a television reporter interviewing the Dalai Lama.  As one might imagine, this is likely a once in a lifetime event for anyone, which at least in my case would lead to some deep thought about what question to ask. Here's what the reporter asked -- I am not making this up: "Have you heard this one?  The Buddhist monk goes into a pizza parlor and asks 'can you make me one with everything?'" Confused silence ensued... Best, Gary
Love it!

I look forward to your nominations ! I have created a new Explorer Folder for the purpose, and hope to get a few choice ones out ahead of the posse. G
Tapping a 'rich seam'...
02/06/2012 - 20:56
so, here goes nothin'... look at the finishing. The boys did better than this in half a day let loose in the Vc Manufacture after a night on wine, cognac and a bucket of cigars:- Mind you, when I get fed up with the back, I like to turn them over... You have to admit, the shape is kinda OK Possibly my favourite. First, the picture quality would teach Gary G a thing or 2 (sorry Gary!):- Secondly, it falls into the sad fake category very squarely Thirdly, as if we are not offended enough by the first and second points, we are given a guided tour. Now that's plain patronising, let alone rude! But I reserve my judgement for these complicated pieces - where everythign works! Sometimes there is a high quality 'spoke' coming out the side of the case .... top! Please add your personal favourites too, and help keep everyone sane. Gary

Did you happen to notice that they misspelled Constantin on the face of that first watch?????

Good catch. It's about the little details.
OK, here's a relatively recent one

...that for me is hard to beat! So much is wrong with this one -- from the numerals to the "finishing" on that bridge to that wild strap -- that one has to wonder what people are thinking.  Not to mention the askew "big date" (can't actually function, can it?).  Oof! I will continue my scan of the archives, but am also looking forward to others' nominations! Best, Gary G

Do I have any takers for the idea that
02/07/2012 - 00:35
..whoever 'they' were, would have been better off putting Lange on the dial of this one? Miaow!
How about "Crappe?"
02/07/2012 - 23:22
By the time you find that your "big date" doesn't function, your $49.95 is down the drain, I suppose... Best, Gary
Here are a couple that you may not have seen yet, :-)

Loved the "depuis 1755"
02/07/2012 - 23:21
And what is it with those waffle-print bridges on these watches?  Can anyone possibly find that attractive? Best, GaryG
Don't know which model they were copying here....

02/08/2012 - 15:26
I know I've shown these here before but hey still bring such great and funny memorieswink A regular visit to my barber turned out to be a VC fake festival So I had to teach the guy a thing or two about the real McCoy...
