The watch came to in a trade for a Rolex President. I like it better than the Rolex and it get's noticed and commented on alot.. It did not come with the box and papers but due to the high price charged by V&C  I won't be getting them. This watch also has the original Gay and Freres band. It seems to be a fairly rare watch. Can anyone comment as to it's rareity?
All V&C's are rare...

some as single examples and others in runs of 5 to 50 pieces with numerous variations of dials, hands, etc.  That said, the Chronometre Royal family is the longest running line in Vacheron Constantin history, first registered as a trademark for pocket watches in 1908.  It would be overwhelming to search using Chronometre Royal but try "1008BS" in the search function...that is the movement that your watch has.  BTW, is the bracelet actually marked Gay Freres?  And if you think the certificate is expensive, wait until you check out restoration surprise. First, begin with this primer by Alex: Chronometre Royal 1907: 100 Years of Flamboyance
