Look at this!

My heart almost stopped when I saw this! So beautiful!!! Look at this!

Alex, was this released @ this year's SIHH as well? or just came out?

Look at this!

You're not dreaming but this watch is normally under embargo until

Oct-Nov 2007!!!

So yes it exists..its the most attractive perpetual calendar chronograph on earth but I can't say more :-(

Stunning timepiece
06/06/2007 - 16:31

Is this the new limited watch of Vacheron Constantin ?. Alex, could you more write something ?.

yes to your first question no to the second question! I'm sorry guys
06/06/2007 - 16:50

but I really can't say anything. This watch was shown to certain retailers and not to the press and it never should have appeared online and as much as I want to tell you more and show you all the photos I've taken I am obliged to hold off until embargo is lifted :-(

I usually dislike the Malte collection but....
06/06/2007 - 16:59

i have to say that this one is elegant.

Regarding alex saying "it's the most attractive chrono perpetual calendar", i have to disagree.

What the 3970 and even the 5970?

As much as I like the Patek 3970 if find that the 5970 is just a

3970 in a Datograph case.

Regarding this Malte perpetual chrono it needs to be seen in the flesh but just from the photo it looks out of the world.

c'mon Alex tell us more, no one will know :-)

You're right regarding the 5970 (nt)

I really prefer the design of the "catalog" QP chrono
06/06/2007 - 19:05

the one I love for so many years !

5mns indexs here are not so beautiful. same according to days hand.

figures here in minutes counter are too big, not in accordance to others figures.

No, really, I don't like, and I don't understand why they've made these mistakes !

My 2 cents worth...

Hi Alex et al., You can take my comments as a personal opinion, which is of course what they are and not the reflections of a watch expert, which I am not. Firstly, I believe that VC has made a mistake in their redesign of this piece, making it look far too much like the undistinguished PP 5970 (Oh horrors...what he said!!) Secondly, I have never liked this watch in a white metal, ie platinum, (not this one nor the 47112). Platinum gives the watch a pale washed-out appearance and de-emphasizes the beautiful sculpted look. This is particularly true of the moon. Now, ideally, rose gold would be the colour of choice, but it is only available in PT and YG. The 47112 is a really magnificent design nevertheless. I mention the sculpted appearance because the dial really comes out as a three dmensional work of art. From the applied "XII" and the raised 3-sided hour indicators, to the sword hands and the engraved moon; the watch really presents more richly and warmly than the placid, flat 5970 and even this newer Vacheron. I have also been a fan of the Malte case especially the stepped lugs which give the watch an art-deco appearance with a modern accent. And I believe this case works well here. At least that wasn't changed in the new design! As far as the red numbers are concerned, there are only two. In the platinum version they are a bit jarring and could have been grey. However, in the gold version, which is warmer, they are not out of place. I've said quite enough already, but my tastes run to a simple, elegant proportional design concept which endures over the years. And I believe that Vacheron, more than any other watch company has adhered to this ideal. Of the more recent designs I would include George Daniels and Roger Smith as well as Philippe Dufour.

Thunderstrauck!! Gasp! Gasp! This is the most amazing watch of all

time!!!

I mean just look at the stealth beauty of it and the engraved moonphase is a sight for sore eyes. I have always been attracted to the Malte perpetual calendar chronograph but somehow the red lettering on the dial put me off.

This is a watch I can imagine buying.

Alex can you please tell us if it is a limited edition (I guess it is) and how many will be made and availability?

VC is going to put a contract on me if I continue answering your
06/06/2007 - 21:27

questions

It will be available by the end of the year and you'l have much, much more exclusive info here on The hour Lounge soon :-)

Looks like a larger case size...
06/07/2007 - 03:16

The subdials look bunched up in the middle and the bar indices at 3 and 9 o'clock are full-length (compared to the shortened indices on the catalogue model). Could this mean that the size of the watch has been increased, while still using the same movement as the catalogue model? I is obvious that VC has made an effort to improve the legibility of the dial, hence the more pronounced indices, and larger numerals.

It is good to see that VC is really active with many new models coming out lately. I would post pictures of some other goodies that VC has up its sleeves, but then it would be Alex (the Godfather) putting out a contract on me!

C'mon everyone, I am sure Alex can be bribed one way or another...

You can make me an offer I can't refuse :-) The case size is the same
06/07/2007 - 11:55

as the regular production model: ie 39mm

correction, the case size is 42mm (nt)

From 39mm to 42mm
06/08/2007 - 07:28

Well, although 42mm is close to paneristic proportions, since we are not talking dress watches here, and considering the improved visibility, it should be alright - unless you have small wrists

It's a killer !
06/07/2007 - 14:34

But, the problem with these kind of watches, either they are VC's, PP' or Lange's,

are it's too much !

Beautiful, but you have to have magnifying glass with you all the time.

Even my DTR, is hard to read the date on.....

Just my few €

WOW - Awesome! I like those moon-discs! (nt)
