extra flat repeating caliber 1755.

In the early 90s and the rebirth of the mechanical watch Vacheron Constantin decided to recrteate an extra flat repeater caliber. To do so it took apart a caliber it used in the 40s for its repeaters and rebuilt a modern version, named cal 1755 it was only 3.28mm thick (!!!) and had an amazingly crisp soud.

Made in only 200 pieces it was used as a repeater in skeleton (rose gold and platinum) or full dial (yellow gold and platinum)

In 200 this movement in its perpetual calendar version was introduced in the now defunct round Malte Perpetual Calendar Repeater in rose gold, the case size and design giving this tradituional complication a very contemporary feel.

All fantastic! These pieces are true marvels of horology, very complex to build but so fantastic compared to an oversized grande complication Thanks Alex

Thanks for this, Alex!  A wonderful post, and reminds me again why I am so fond of VC. That squelette is unreal... All the best, Gary
That wonderful thinness...

makes these the most exquisite minute repeaters on the planet, IMHO. So with all 200 cal. 1755's consumed, I hope VC introduces an ultra-thin replacement...any insights, Alex? Best, Paul

Hi Alex, That is truly heavenly This would be my ultimate watch, unfortunately it is out of any realistic expecations.  The closest I will ever come to this would be a V&C minute repeater pocketwatch, which is actually the only thing on my wish list right now. BR, Dan
super nice!
