Famous Vacheronistas are nothing new though... as proof, I offer you Chris Hemsworth.  (Although, this may only have been "in character", but I think it is safe to say he would have fallen in love with it if he wore it for a while.

Some of the high tech execs (like Eddy Cue from Apple and several other apparently) are big mechanical watch afficionados.  There was a fairly recent interview on this.  I agree.  Experts are good.  Celebrity status is less-impressive.
